Hotfix 2.5.0.2 Feedback

There are a lot of threads out there already on the new changes, but I wanted to give a central location to point everyone to when they ask me where they can share their thoughts. Now that you have had a few days to play the new changes we want to hear what you experiences have been playing. What do you like? What do you hate? What do you think is good but could be better? What would you change?

  • First, the reviews aren't violently mixed. They are overwhelmingly negative. You released a regression intentionally. The kicker is that the change wasn't even necessary. Bladedancers didn't need a nerf. Instead, you kill their regen (and murder voidwalkers in the process plus the ram), you gutted their blink (again hurting voidwalkers), and you removed quick draw (killing ophidian aspects). Good job. You murdered two subclasses that were fine as they were. The special ammo economy is garbage. Matador needed a nerf to be inline with other high impact shotguns. Instead, you gave shotguns a blanket nerf. Ammo pickups needed to be adjusted by lethality. Instead, you blanket nerfed all special ammo. You didn't even fix the problem. Matador is still king of shotguns. No reason to use any other shotgun. Same with Saladin's Vigil. So, you killed all special besides sidearms to target one specific weapon. Good job. Speaking of sidearms... We all warned you that removing special ammo on everything would create an unfun sidearm meta. Nothing in sidearm range can compete with .6 to .7 TTK. Not even perfectly aimed auto rifles. So everyone is running sidearms as a primary, and whatever else as a conditional secondary. Skorri desperately needs to only work while in combat (recently dealt damage) to prevent camping. ARs didn't get buffed enough to compete with sidearms and HCs given they share range. Overall, it was painfully obvious that the patch was completely data driven and rushed. Stop doing that. Listen to your players. Every other major FPS invites a handful of players to some sort of balance summit to get their input. Destiny? "Well... Over 10% use this so lets nerf it into the ground even though literally no one complained about it." The CD/Grasp nerf was soo much. Now, they are worse than the hawksaw variant in literally every way. Reduce the range, increase the damage falloff, and give it back the ammo. Truth nerf? I get it, but literally no one cared. It's a heavy. Slotting an exotic in the heavy slot should be worth an extra couple kills per match. Stop nerfing exotics. Most are already worse than legendaries. Just about the only thing right with this patch was the in air accuracy changes, high impact pulse changes, and flinch changes. Everything else was flat out wrong or completely misguided.
