Hungering Blade Clarification for Hotfix 2.5.0.2 Patch Notes

We just launched Hotfix 2.5.0.2 which contains a Sandbox tuning pass and changes to the Crucible. If you want an in-depth exploration into some of these changes you can watch our live fire demonstration here. For those interested in the bullet points we have the full Patch Notes up as well. In the interest of full transparency, we do need to clarify something in this update. Our test team discovered that the changes to the Blade Dancer Perk Hungering Blade were being applied to several other Health Regen Perks. Here is a quote from Sandbox designer Josh Hamrick.
Over the last couple of days, as we continued to test the patch, it came to our attention that the changes we made to Hungering Blade were unintentionally shared among a number of additional elements (list below). While we considered delaying the hotfix to remove the shared change, we ultimately decided to live with the patch we’d made and tested. We believe that Hotfix 2.5.0.2 is an important step forward to maintain the health of the game and that getting it out to you ASAP is in everyone's best interest. And besides, no one wants to show up empty handed on Valentine’s day. List of affected elements: • Hungering Blade (Arc Hunter) • Transfusion (Striker Titan) • Cauterize (Sunbreaker Titan) • Lifesteal (Voidwalker Warlock) • Red Death perk • Suros Legacy Perk (Suros Regime) • No Backup Plans • Ward of Dawn cast • The Ram • Apotheosis Veil • Embrace the Void (Voidwalker Warlock) Over the next couple of weeks, we will be diligently watching and listening to what you have to say about these changes. While we will be unsurprised if additional tweaks need to be made, we are honestly super interested to see how these changes, intended or not, play out. We will be relying on you to give us your feedback as you grow accustomed to the feel of the game over the next couple of weeks. We will also be with you ingame, playing along and making our own notes… Apparently, I have to redeem myself for my stream performance anyway. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a 1st date with a potential Skorri fix…
I honestly don't mind this hot fix. Although they have nerfed things that didn't need to be cough cough truth. But anything other than that, they fixed; sort of. We wanted ghost bullets to be fixed, they fixed while restricting them to be the meta like they were in year 1. We wanted more variety in the crucible, we got buffs for weapons hat weren't very popular to soon to be very good. They nerfed stormcaller melee which is fantastic. Shot gun and jug has now been nerfed. But 1 question. Why? We grinded for exotics for hours upon hours (with three of coins.) To only see them get nerfed to the ground to make them useless. Blink, hungering blade and all the other perks that regen health are just dumb. On stream they were talking about a blade dancer being near death and hungering blade activates and you have nothing to do about it. Well guess what bungo, THAT'S THE POINT OF SUPERS! You really aren't supposed to be restricted from killing enemys with your super when that is literally the point. You guys loved to talk about "choosing your battles" on stream but whose fault was it to choose a fight with an enemy with a super? And the exotics, why ophidian aspect, truth and other perks and exotics... Why did they need to be nerfed? No one had a problem with them, because you want to know why bungie? It's because they are supposed to give you an advantage, when you see someone with no exotics in trials. They aren't just using legendaries over exotics to look cool. It's because you guys nerfed so many exotics there's no point to use them anymore. But although I went on a massive rant about this patch. I really do think bungie did do some right things and the things that they did right like shotguns ghost bullets and etc. Really added more to the table in terms of the crucible but what is an online game without players having fun? A bad game and nerfing those exotics isn't what the community asked for and that is just going to keep players away from playing the game. But Bungo really needs to step up their game with listening to the community or else destiny 2 might be the worst destiny.
