Just throwing some questions in although I fully admit not reading all the comments on this thread. I like to think that bungie put the vex in as a grand mystery of the most extreme case of super intelligence that the universe can conjure, kinda like a race becoming omnipotent. The questions I have I will try to keep relevant to the lore but I may avert from it. What if the vex have conquered other timelines that we are present in but not the timeline we play in? What if the vex use time travel to seed themselves in the primordial dust that gathers to create planets? Maybe the vex are not from the past at all but are in fact from the far future? I like the idea that there's a twist to their origins and that they might have been created by humans in the future, maybe from a form of Exo and the fact they have come back through time and interacted with us will lead to their inevitable demise in some paradoxical act, maybe that's why they can never truly destroy the human race? What if they actually don't have any form of leader or central intelligence but their connected minds act as a hive mind while the units singularly are able to think independently? What if the game is just a vex simulation?

 • Good questions, I'll answer them all to the best of my ability. I also think that the Vex are the peak of evolution and intelligence, and they actually are defined as master of space-time law and physical law. The Vex actually hav conquered many alternate timelines already, including some where we are present. Their conquering of these timelines and establishment of permanence in each of them has allowed some of their structures to appear in alternate timelines where the Vex haven't even appeared yet. They've actually killed our Guardian many times, and the Stranger grimoires and her own dialogue speak of many timelines already controlled by the Vex and void of human life or the Light. The Vex probably hav seeded planets like that in at least one timeline seeing how they are so deft with experimentation, but the end result would be a planet with Vex structures embedded into them, which Vex can already achieve without having to arrive before said planet has even formed. We actually don't know if the Vex were built in the past or future, and it would be nearly impossible to figure that out. As the Vex hav spread forwards, backwards, and even what we would call "sideways" or "perpendicularly" through time, there hav been models built ranging from eons younger than to eons older than humanity. The only way to find out would be to find a timeline free of them, then locate the exact date and location and watch them be created. That would be a near-useless delay though, because eventually Vex would find their way to that timeline anyway and overrun it. Unless u used the knowledge u gained from observing their creation to find a way to destroy them... There is absolutely no evidence as to their creators, unfortunately. And if we did create them, that has not stopped them from erasing us from existence in many alternate timelines. Again, according to the Stranger Actually, that is kind of how their minds seem to work. Each Vec is a separate part of the collective mind, so actually is it's own separately thinking individual, but shares and receives information in such an effective and responsive way that makes it seem as if one mind is controlling. It isn't actually one mind controlling lesser minds, but more like one mind in billions of bodies, just some bodies hav a bit more of the brain in them and some specific portions of the brain It could be a simulation, or it could not be (eerie conspiracy music plays). These are the same kind of thoughts that the four Ishtar Collective scientists had when experimenting with the Vex in the Golden Age, as shown in the four Vex Ghost Fragments

 • Thank you for answering them all fully. I know these questions have been raised before in other posts and even in the Destiny's Lore but I like to see everybody's take on the facts. Seems as though the Vex are an unstoppable, impossibly capable force that i wouldn't really define as a race but more of a physical event that unfolds using machines as guidance. But they do bow to darkness, even in its simplest form as the heart of darkness, maybe there is something there that can help us understand the logic of the Vex. On another note, I do see Destiny's universe being a simulation of the Vex or maybe some other entity. Things like the darkness could be a simulation of humans inability to overcome their own emotional restrictions, the Cabal, Fallen and Hive could be simulations of War-Hunger, Revenge and Dread, with Vex being Hatred also a possibility.

 • No problem, after all you haven't truly studied or understood a subject until you've seen all the sides to it and compared them. The Vex really would be unstoppable if there weren't physics-defying beings like the Traveler, Darkness, Hive, and Guardians around. The Vex's only weakness are the things that they cannot understand or predict, but even with so many enemies that remain unpredictable to them, they hav still come out on top countless times. Even their worship of the Darkness is only a means to understand it, grow more powerful using that knowledge, and in the end be superior to it. As I've studied the Vex, I've found many simplicities and easily traceable courses of logic throughout their actions, allowing me to gain some understanding of how they operate, but their mind is so much larger and more intelligent than ours that they probably never could be understood fully. We cannot fully answer any question about the Vex, wether it be who, what, when, where, why, or how. Dude that's a really deep interpretation; the Vex creating a world where forces represent concepts and playing out the internal battles of sentient beings as if actual physical wars were waging. I love it. Riddle me this:
I am the Vex
