Snipers take more skill....so please make them easier to use again. (rampant sniper hypocrisy)

You realize this is all that is really being said by all these 'sniper buff' people right? Can someone please make a rational counter argument as to why the title statement is not true? From what I can see any argument to buff snipers back is largely hypocritical ESPECIALLY when usually in the same sentence you're asking for a shotgun nerf. Most of the 'arguments' for sniper buffs come from the mentality that they want to be able to counter shotguns. This makes no sense at all. Snipers are long range and shotguns are close range. Other than a sniper taking out a shotgunner from a distance there is no overlap here. Shotguns cannot threaten a sniper on their own. This also leads into the mention that somehow the flinch changes allowed shotguns to rise up more. This is only partially true but in the usual sniper bias way they're leaving out an important part. Before the changes Sniper rifles were being chosen above most other weapons (Primary or special) in the closer ranges because of their 'safer' 1HK potential. Now that their harder to use people moved to the weapons that actually are supposed to be used in those situation. Including shotguns. Then of course there's the Title of the post. "Snipers take more skill". That in and of itself is undeniable. It's a single bullet precision weapon used in the longest ranges. So then why was it OK that they were the optimal choice in other ranges? Simply because it took a different skill set to use them that way? Yet many of the same people want to Nerf the range of shotguns? Sorry but that's completely hypocritical even if you include the different skills it takes to be good at both weapons. The map design point comes up a lot too. Most maps are too small to viably use a sniper rifle as it is now. So basically you're looking to force weapon viability into a scenario where it doesn't fit? Why? So you can have your 'safer' 1HK weapon as opposed to a riskier 1HK weapon? Even more hypocritical. Sniper and shotguns shouldn't even be in the same sentence or compared in any way other than their 1HK potential which are used at completely different ranges. TL;DR: Sniper buff protagonists are hypocrites in regards to why they want snipers buffed. Especially when they are combined with shotgun nerf requests.

I may just be taking you at face value but you are throwing the term hypocrite around allot in that typing diarrhea argument you got there. The term you are looking for is irrational not hypocritical. Let me explain first let's start with you title. Your argument is unraveled by simply replacing take with took. Snipers took more skill and now are barely usable unless you enjoy hard scoping lanes than by all means it's perfect. Your whole "people are whining about shotguns being nerfed but they want snipers back" this is pretty much a laughable joke shotgun range if fine that's not the issue actually special ammo quantity, maneuverability, and 0 draw back is the actual problems with shotguns. 1. They crit there is no reason for this take it out of the game. 2. With certain armor specs you can hold up to 22 shots.... why? This is stupid snipers at most can hold 12..... no one sees an issue? 3. Snipers scopes vs ballistics. This is everything to a sniper the scopes are creative, but designed to block full portions of a screen which leaves you vulnerable. Shotguns the zoom is minimal you have almost complete awareness of surroundings . 4. Perks. Shotgun- Rifled barrel, range finder, final round, crowd control, full auto, spray and play, surrounded, battle runner, close and or personal, danger close, ...... these are all depending on what it's paired with great for the weapon. Sniper: hidden hand, rodeo, outlaw, triple tap, outlaw, spray and play, mulligan, snap shot, quick draw..... This is what snipers have to look forward to with hidden hand and outlaw being the exception very little of these make a huge difference Where as shotguns those perks make a huge huge difference some pretty situational but none make it worse just better. So when you do compare both side by side there is much less more of a draw back playing sniper even in the previous meta than there was being a shotgun user the biggest difference and why so many picked up snipers bungies crappy hit registration so yeah they could be/feel inconsistent. Sure being in CQB means you had a better chance of being hit which on its surface says to people high risk but that's the play style. I like sniping just as I do fusions I'm patient and I prefer to slow the game down to my pace and I got really good at it and it's to bad. Do I still use snipers yes but have to normally switch a game or 2 in because the intensity of the flinch is way to strong. Now illgive you credit that your argument holds water I'm not denying that, however you asked for a counter argument and I'm always up for a challenge. Snipers took some less skill than people claim prior to the nerf Just like shotgun God rolls they were to plentiful through out TTK not to mention the emergence of perks like hidden hand. Similar to range finder / shot package high impact shotguns there was a clear advantage to shotgaze/snapshot/hidden hand snipers and people gravitated to these as soon just like the as you put it "emergence" of shotguns. The real issue to me is bungie has added a mechanic to the game that is unreasonable. How would you feel shot gun boy as your (with your eager face on) begin your shotgun warrior cry and begin charging at a guardian ADS and ready to get that 1 hit kill when you get hit by a clever dragon and now your staring at the sky. That's my problem with snipers (I'm getting motion sickness) you can nerf aim assist to the ground, nerf hidden hand, nerf stability, nerf what ever you want, but lesson the violent movement of flinch so I have a chance at a gun fight after the initial shot because i have lost complete site of my target or buff unflinching to do something. The other stuff don't care about will still dominate but the amount of flinch was done with malicious intent to tell people that after there first nerf they were disappointed that people were still using them as much as they were. Also your beloved shotguns will feel this wrath soon..... and at that point you will understand exactly what your "hypocrite" rant is truly all about. When bungie says "rework" their favorite tool is usually a cheese grader just ask any one whom enjoys fusions.
