2 RepliesYAY I can reply now!! (Ban lifted) I'll keep it short. Another great podcast with some excellent guests. (And I got a Mention about my tweet!!!) Mercules904 had a lot of great information and has really dug into the data on weapons and stuff really well. I agreed with almost everything he had an opinion on. Especially about Titan skating. I feel like he almost wanted to use the work "exploit" but he didn't LoL. He really gets it that it was never meant to work that way but Bungie kind of just has done nothing about it. However I was very surprised by his opinion on the Sniper flinch. He's a numbers guy and I get it, but the whole "I really don't think it was happening as much as people were saying" stance is really just having horse blinders on and only looking at the data. That whole situation about not being able to counter correctly was way more than just "How much it happened". It's the fact that it was happening at all to any significant degree. It was shown time and again how predictable the flinch was before. Yes it was a direct result of Primaries being nerfed but it remains that primaries are not going back to what they were. Flinch was coded for what primaries [u]used to be[/u] not what they are and a change was needed to bring the skill back to where it needs to be. I did like that you mentioned Sniper usability outside of their intended range. Personally anyone who thinks sniper rifles should be viable in the shorter ranges are just [url=https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/220226167]hypocrites[/url]. All they want is a 'safer' 1HK weapon just like a shotgun. Most of the Weapon talk seems to be on spot for me. I'm just waiting to see what changes they decide to do that no one actually asked for. I think when it comes to that they just can't help themselves.

I've been seeing a lot of different weapons in pvp lately and its been fun. I cant see how people think nlb, and shotguns are dominating. Oh and shotguns, yeah I think they are going to reduce the amount of times you see special ammo crates in matches. Sad but....yeah [b]As for class balances:[/b] Only titan changes that I see are needed are, Golden gun should kill a titan running jugg(NOTHING MORE NEEDED HERE), Lightning Grenade cones should simulate where the lighting is hitting, I don't see much wrong with Titan skating, HoS needs a tracking buff (sub class is not usable IMO), Sunstrike doesn't activate sometimes that needs work (in general titans need a melee range buff). No one will say it but I will. That HoS nerf was over kill, as was warlocks Sunsinger. Id be fine with (and this is not my idea. Another guardian said this) bungie reducing the hammers to 4, and buffing the tracking and the blast radius (just my opinion). I was taking to zero and neither of us use it in pvp or pve for the same reasons lol. Only hunter changes I see needed is Shadowshot should work on impact not mins later and should last way longer in pve (PVE ONLY). Tripmine Grenade need a damage buff and need to stick to enemies (in pve), and get rid of that damn delay on Arc Blade when swinging. Warlock changes I see needed.....[i][i]sigh[/i][/i] Reduce the range of Thunderstrike and enemies should be in your sights when aim assist kicks in...you should see them, fix Sunsinger (you know what you did, I use warlocks a lot and don't see very many problems but that one). Tbh I don't see destiny ever being truly balanced. Destiny will never be "Balanced". We will just keep getting meta switches until D2. When D2 drops what ever the meta is in destiny is what its going to be. Hope bungie proves me wrong.

17 RepliesSide note: Been playing a lot of Crucible lately, and I think this is the best PvP we've had since Year 1. By far. I'm being killed by a wider array of guns than [i]ever before.[/i]

I agree that sniper are still good in close to mid range they clear need a scope time nerf and a sway put in when moving I don't see a way to counter unless you pull out a sniper and out snipe them. Even when flanking them or using cover to get the drop on them the scope time is such a small amount of time that they can drop you with a head shot in under a second there has been some cases when I've come across snipers and I been drop almost immediately even though they are directly under me and when I've got into the close range area and he just walks left or right and bloom my head is gone plus I've seen quick succession drops when they drop up to 3 people really quickly and that's just has me saying come on so perhaps something should be done to the action of loading the bullet so it's needs o2 seconds to recentre so to give the next person a chance. Shotguns sometimes seem to be depend on connection and range depending on how good your connection to the host is will determine at what range you can drop them at and if your lagging well you might as well just throw it in the bin. same with fusion if not more. Jugganuat needs to be adjusted gg with keyhole should down him and to repeatedly get it back after it's been destroyed is wrong perhaps it needs a cool down time lengthen and perhaps even it's active time shorten I agree that the nerfs to gunslinger and sunslinger were not needed and has just put them on the useless area it's funny you say that about bladedance cause I can down that easily but stromcaller I find has unbelievably hard to drop in stromtance their has been times when I've thrown 2 grenades and unloaded a whole mag into him and he still has sheild and that is just not on when you compare the others which are so easy to drop in super. The reason why some people don't use other classes is cause that some classes aren't that good or on par with the meta classes sunbreaker has fusion grenades at the moment the fusion grenades are the only grenade which will kill when all other grenades need a certain amount of health taken off or certain conditions in order to kill the target and that is silly in my view all grenades should be kill grenades or should do 70% damage their shouldn't be one which are above or better than the other in killing people except maybe the flash bang plus when their is the armour and the reforge option which is missing I don't run a subclass unless I have armour with extra armour for that class and intell dis at 300 if I can't have that I don't run it so that means I can only run all three classes on my hunter my Titan and warlock builds can't do that so they only powerful in one class but my Titan is usually so power it doesn't need it. Titan skating I only use in pve I don't use it a lot in pvp cuase pvp you need to be aware of your sourounding and when your skating you can only go really fast in a straight line I actually find hunter's a lot more moveable and if I adjust my controller setting I can run rings around people. Destiny 2 is going to be a competely new game and it's going to be a game which they want not some scrap which was put together as a test to see if it would sell etc It does puzzle me but we already know that they are ditching everything in order to restart again even the story is being rewritten from what I've heard so I doubt anything will be allowed to carry over. Mind you this does make you thing how they going to do the year 3 trails of honor? Favourite moment none cause other than logging in doing one strike for the box I have not been on.

The deeper the conversation went, the more the discussion revolved around changes to make Crucible better. Worse, as the conversation evolved I think you all convinced yourselves guns should be tweaked more often to keep Crucible fresh and force players onto other guns. I am 100% against the idea of changing guns to relieve player boredom. As a PvE player it means I will never have anything worth getting or keeping. Maybe PvP players need fresh ways to kill one another, but I don't think I need to find new ways to kill Aksis or Oryx. Deeper than that though... the whole immersion factor (to me) is destroyed when the foundational items are not more stable. For crying out loud, what is the point of making a gun, giving it a description, and designing it around a certain range, fire rate, DPS, and TTK if all of that is going to be arbitrarily changed just because some players cry about getting wrecked by it? Throw physics out the window, let's create our virtual world by "feel"... well, we've been on that ride for almost two years, and guess what? The crying has only gotten worse. When your approach to weapons balance isn't to fix what is broken, rather to merely shake up what people use, your weapons modeling is a joke.

1 ReplyWhat a great pod cast. Mercules was a great guest. BUNGIE HIRE THAT MAN. I really wish I could have made it. Like every topic you touched on was my favorite. But I listened while I assembled my desk, so that was nice. My only 2 cents is regarding: "why don't we ever see streamers use side arms?" I think the answer is a little simpler than they just want a leg up. I honestly wouldn't go into 6v6 without plan C or a side arm. It is the best counter to shotgun rushers. It is amazing. The reason you don't see streamers using side arms or fusions is because you can't Rez kill with it. Trials is the one game mode that is keeping people coming back. In trials the ability to control and deny a Rez is absolutely essential. Because of the noted fusion inconsistency it is very hard to dependably fusion kill a Rez. I've done it plenty of times, but I've also inexplicably left 1/4 health and I get shotgunned. Side arms are incapable of Rez killling. If Bungie removed rez over shields, or removed reviving completely, I'm sure fusion and side arm usage would increase in all game modes. [spoiler]note: spooky trials doesn't count. No radar = shotgun rushers dream[/spoiler] Other than that, great cast! Enjoyed every bit of it.

6 RepliesExcellent cast. Agreed with allot but... the flinch on snipers was needed. You get shot in the face.. you should flinch. The real problem is that snipers by nature are a cover/distance type weapon. Not many true sniper spots or viable cover in PvP based on the small map designs. Way to many close quarters maps that favor an in your face style.

5 RepliesGreat episode. I would hate to see titan skating get nerfed. I primarily play pve and to have it nerfed simply for the sake of people in the crucible would bother me quite a bit. The effects of nerfs due to the crucible have already hurt certain aspects of enjoyment in pve. I would hate to see titan skating go that way.

11 RepliesWell that was a great podcast. I really enjoyed the discussion taken place. Especially on snipers and auto rifles. I completely agree with Mercules on the state of snipers. I feel like the flinch nerf was completely unnecessary and the wrong thing to do. It hurts snipers in the ranges that they are meant to be used in and rewards players for using certain primaries outside of their intended ranges. That's a broken mechanic in my opinion and needs to be addressed. The changes in the April update were definitely the ones that needed to be done and that did reduce the amount of snipers being used in close and medium ranges. I think the flinch change needs to be reversed and if there's still a problem then make similar changes to what was done in the April update. There's absolutely no reason that someone should be able to challenge a sniper in a long range lane with a primary weapon and expect to win, unless they are using a scout rifle and are very good at strafing and dodging shots. As for auto rifles, Mercules put it perfectly. There are a lot of close range weapons in this game and auto rifles aren't even close to being competitive in their own range. And when you take them out of their range well then they're absolutely worthless. I think they need a damage and range boost. As well as some magazine increases to the low RoF/high impact archetype and revert the nerf to high RoF/low impact archetype. Their reason for that nerf was completely unjust anyways. There are so many weapons that can challenge and kill multiple enemies with one magazine. One more thing, about Titan skating. There are drawbacks to it already. Low agility means you have a lower jump height. Not to mention low maneuverability with skating. It's fast but only in a straight line. A Hunter who utilizes their jump and Agility can dance circles around any Titan or Warlock. Not to mention easily avoid a skating Titan.

Extremophile from Dead Orbit and Continental From Vanguard can roll with counterbalance and an extra stability perk. They hit hard, you will love it.
