Just looked them up. 300 -blam!-ing dollars? On a pair of speakers and plastic? What separates them from the $50 pair that I've been using for over a year with no problems?

Quality for one lol, most likely your $50 headset isn't wireless and if it is it's not good. Functionality and presets, battery life, etc. -
I really wish I had wireless, for when I'm gaming with my controller 15 ft. away. It's also useful as a paper weight when the battery dies. Presets for what? Sound? The Sony gold's have that available, it's widely viewed as a gimmick. Go for it though. It's your money, waste it how you see fit.
