In short, Bungie, shotguns are overly dominant largely because of the maps available in the current meta. Shotguns should be lethal at close range but the way to mitigate their effectiveness is the create maps that are not heavily cornered, as tight, etc. allowing other weapons to counter shotgun warriors on their way in. Sure have some shotgun friendly maps but also have some that are not - perhaps the current mix of map design is the problem? IMHO - This Matador 64 problem is not really a problem with shotgun, but the environment to which they can flourish - i.e. the maps...

  • Though the maps are small and I agree with what you say, it is also the mobility that we have with them. Shotguns are a little over the top right now, BUT the fact the we can move across the map so fast is why they seem as OP as they to. To sum it up; small maps + strong shotguns + high player mobility = shotgun dominance

  • Good points.... So do you think perhaps dramatically reducing handling or slowing ADS or making shotguns hip fire only (killing rangefinder) or slowing movement speed when equipped or something along those lines would be an appropriate nerf?

  • I am not a fan of large nerfs, I've seen too many of them in my time on Destiny. This forum is more on weapon Balancing, But reducing the distance of double jump [u]just for PvP[/u] would work. Earlier I posted what I think weapon tuning should be. I think a decrease in range a long with stronger weapons to counter them would be the best option.

  • Understood. I would be much more willing to leaving the weapons and characters alone and just come up with different map sets and leave adjusting tactics to the players....
