This is a nice idea but it would require Bungie to support all versions of the game simultaneously, which would require a disgusting amount of resources.

  • How so? Old versions are delivered as is. People host their own matches (the old p2p system Bungie uses and everyone hates), so the game install and updates would just need to keep the weapon and armor data files in individual directories for each patch. When you configure your private match you pick the patch version. As everyone else will also have the different version with their install, they all load the right files when joining the match. The big issue here is not the technical aspect, but rather how much extra space will this take on peoples consoles?
