Yes please, support the competitive scene Nintendo!
-
It would be a better decision to simply port smash 4
-
Melee would be much better for esports

Edited by Dexter307: 1/17/2017 8:30:25 PMIt wouldn't be as good for a new console. Smash 4 is more popular, and so would bring more people to the switch. Nintendo doesn't care about esports.

Everything you said is wrong. For one, melee is actually more popular, and Nintendo actually is starting to show interest in the competitive community. And it also makes more sense for them to remake Melee, well because it's way older and outdated, and also because it would just be more convenient for the competitive scene because we wouldn't have to haul around CRT's, GameCubes, and memory cards.

Edited by Dexter307: 1/17/2017 9:23:36 PMUmmmmmm no. Smash 4 is significantly more popular and would bring in more people than melee would. Also, being older would mean it would be harder to bring over to the switch. Smash 4 is relatively recent, so it would be easy to port over. I also haven't seen Nintendo show any interesting in competitive gaming.

There's no reason the smash 4 community would switch over to the Switch. You're not thinking this through. The Melee community has much more incentive to switch. And you're still wrong. The Melee scene is bigger, and the numbers are only going up, but the same can't be said about smash 4

Edited by Dexter307: 1/17/2017 10:41:32 PMThere really isn't any more reason for melee players to switch over either. And smash 4 being ported would have a much bigger impact than melee. Smash 4 is a better game for non-competitive players, so you bring in lots of people who didn't want the wiiu but want smash, as well as the people who had a wiiu and are moving over to the switch. With melee you would only bring over half of the small competitive scene that decided to play on the switch. Keep in mind that the melee scene seems smaller than the smash 4 competitive scene at this moment in time, due to smash 4 being a relatively recent game. Porting melee over smash 4 would be a poor decision financially. It's as simple as that.

What they really need is a Smash Bros. Collection with all four games on it for the Switch. I would go from a non-believer in the Switch to an instant buyer if they announced that.
-
But really all they need is Melee, NTSC version, with no gameplay or mechanic changes, and I'm sure the entire tournament scene will pick it up.
-
A Gamecube Virtual Console is rumored, with one of the first games being SSBM so the competitive Smash Bros scene can use it. Was hoping for an announcement at the reveal, but nothing.

Yes! Brawl was my fave btw
-
Ew, brawl was by far the worst

way too much button mashing for my taste
