I've been playing the Crucible lately and i can't help but notice that auto rifles are not performing well at all. Auto Rifles are designed to be used at medium to close ranges in which ranges every hand cannon, pulse rifle, fusion rifle, shotgun are outgunning them.
The issue, in my opinion, is the Impact stat of the Auto Rifle archetype in general, which has been the debate for the most nerfs in the game thus far, starting with Suros Regime being nerfed to the ground back in year one and culminating to the Doctrine Of Passing-arhcetype Auto Rifles in year 2 with the following "buff" on autos.
A fix would be buffing Auto Rifles according to their archetype, so they can perform at the ranges that they have been designed to perform at. However, buffing the impact stat of auto rifles is gonna make them deal more damage at range as well. This could be remedied by lowering the Range Stat of Auto Rifles. That way, you get Auto Rifles performing competitively, compared to other weapons, at their intended range while limiting their damage outside of that range at the same time.
I would like to provide a link to the video i used while making my point as refference. I do not OWN nor have i contributed to the making of this video in any way.

Edit : I'd like to provide a link to a followup video that i found that suits the topic. I do not OWN nor have i contributed to the making of this video in any way.

I think that slower firing auto rifles should be higher damaging with higher range to compete with pulse rifles in mid-long range encounters Also faster firing auto rifles should have slightly higher stability and a bit more damage to wipe groups of enemies in pve or archons forge None of these desperately need to be done, they are just suggestions (for any salty people) :D
