Armor Sets, Stats, and Appearance

Pseudo-OCD. Perfect stats, matching set, perks I need.

228

I'll wear a set that *looks* good even if the stats suck.

218

As long as the state and perks work, I'll be Frankenstein.

131

I'll wear whatever I pick up off the ground regardless of stats or appearance.

*As long as the stats work* You'd think they'd have poll editing by now. Do you go out of your way to complete armor sets, or just what you pick up off the ground that looks sturdy? Do you sacrifice functionality for fashion, or do you look like a monster and know it, but have perfect stats to suit your playing style? Or...do you wear whatever your guardian picks up off the ground? "One man's trash..." Or are you the one who seeks perfection: good stats, complete, matching set, and functionality to slate your OCD? I'm the latter of the bunch. If I like an armor set, I usually determine what subclass I'll use it on and which weapons I'll use with it so I know what to look for when I get drops. I like pretty much all of the PS exclusive gear, so hunting Sublime Engrams has been a thing for me for quite some time. I'm a stickler when it comes to armor. I dislike sets that make my guardian look more creature-esque, so I typically go after armor that looks like something my class/subclass would use in a realistic context. If my Hunter is a space-fairing, intrepid, gun-slinging, lead-spitting, dust-kicking, nomadic vagabond, I'd like my armor to reflect that, right? Pretty much the entire point of an RPG, if you ask me. Don't even ask me how long I took gathering the pieces for my Long Tomorrow 9G armor set, and good reload gauntlets with Hand Cannon/Scout Rifle loaders. That's a long, sad tale with a happy ending, but paved with disappointment at every turn. It was easier to get all the other PS exclusive armor with good stats than it was this one set. Fought tooth and nail for it. I've noticed some other people doing the same. I actually bumped into my Titan's long lost twin in the tower the other night. Some guy had a full set of tier 11 Jovian Guard armor, too. He looked at me, I looked at him, and we knew it was...Destiny. I even switched to my old Hesperos set on my Titan (also with good stats/perks) and he had a set with the same quality. Was pretty cool. What about you? What sets do you use, and do you overlook small details to wear them or make no exceptions? Do you prefer full armor sets, or mixing it up?
