I feel like everybody liked Year 1 because it was still a new game at that point. Everything was fresh, there was no SBMM, and there was no true meta up until HoW. However, those same people have forgotten all the flaws that were fixed with TTK's launch. TTK was a real game changer. Quests for exotics and a raid that was challenging for most. The only issue I had with TTK was with the timegates. Now we're in RoI. The story was arguably short (much shorter than TTK), but everyone got their Gjallarhorn. Ornaments were added and they're all pretty cool in their own ways. The raid is fun and filled with loot. Festival of the Lost was a letdown BUT The Dawning really made up for it. I don't see why Year 3 has gotten so much hate. Edit: I'd like to add that revamped VoG/CE/PoE will definitely make a comeback before D2, which is more than they've ever done for a mid-year release.
