Let me explain how I feel about year 1 and I'm sure how many others feel about it: Now that we experienced almost everything Destiny has to offer, I'm pretty sure us Destiny players look back at year 1 and 2 when we play in year 3. Year 2 was our "mindless salvation." We thought that the Taken King DLC would be our ticket out of grinding hell, and it was! For like a week. Destiny's The Taken King started to get dried out in a matter of weeks, and it's not just Bungie's fault, we the community will forever be hungry for more content, and that's a hunger we can almost never sate. Destiny mid year 2 was our "Moses and his people stuck in the dessert for 40 years" type of game. With little to no content, more and more people left because of this dry season. But then year 3 came around, Rise of Iron. We've never seen anything like it. Although many ad there doubts, most people enjoyed the few weeks of it. But now it's a mess, PvP-ers are always asking for balanced weapons and a balanced game, Raiders getting tired of all the raids, and don't forget all the fuss about the 'reskins' of the DLC. Both these years were... okay... But there was a feeling about year 1 that years 2 and 3 didn't have. Destiny year 1 was definitely my favorite. Some would disagree because of the countless hours of grinding, but it's like I said, Destiny year 1 had a feeling like no other, and it's that feeling I liked and something I really miss in year 3. If only they could bring the fun experience of year 1 back. With fun raids and cool activities, you could really shape your character into what he/she represented. Not to mention that it was one of the most balanced times of the game PvP wise. But yeah, in the end, Destiny Year 1 (and I'm sure most would agree) was the best experience I've had in this game.
