I really dislike these posts. If you sat down and actually thought about the state of the game back then. The sheer number of quality-of-life fixes they have done since then will blow your mind. Destiny at launch and y1 was a bad game with barely anything to do, and the activities that you could do were simplistic, unrefined, and sloppily executed. It had a) good gunplay (which it still has now) and Vault of Glass. That's it. It had a second piss poor raid, a small handful of boring strikes, a small handful of pvp maps (pvp was even more unbalanced than now), and a dumbed down boring-as-hell PoE. Aaaaand that's it. It did not have any semblance of storyline, barely and cutscenes, no questlines, no secrets / Easter eggs, no trials (trials was at the very end of y1 and it was just a Thorn / TLW / Felwinters / Final Round sniper crapfest), no infusion. It had less than half the strikes we have today. It had half the pvp maps we have today. It did not have the 3 new subclasses. It had half the raids currently available. It had probably 1/4 of the bounties we have today if you factor in Shiro + Strike + Crucible bounties. It had no gear uniqueness because there was so few shaders, no ornaments, no chroma, only 1 gear path to max light level. If you were max light, you were literally identical looking to every other character at max light. You had to farm for hours and hours to get planetary materials. Every non-exotic gun was God Roll by every player because of the weapon re-roll cancer. It had less than half the exotics we currently have, but only 1 of them mattered in pve (wink wink) and there was no way to farm/quest for said gun. No sparrow racing, very limited pvp game modes, no private matches. No Dreadnaught, no Plaguelands, no Challenge of Elders, no Archon Forge. No kiosks. Limited vault space. Less enemy variety. Cryptarch deciding a tier below what you gave him. The list goes on and on. And on and on. I'm sure I forgot almost 100 more things that are better now compared to y1. It was really, really not a good game back then. It had VoG and that was it. Everything else really sucked compared to the current state of the game and how many problems were fixed since then. Looking at the past through rose colored lenses. Remembering the 3 things that were cool and forgetting the 300 things that sucked.
