They actually buffed things in year 1 since then it's been nothing but nerfs. Although the taken king had tons of content they also destroyed many of the good things about year 1. Perks were nerfed to make room for a different style. In turn it made many of the exotics that were the foundation of the game utter crap. For example nerfing perfect balance made bad juju (used to be a laser) unstable and hard to control. Smart drift control used to give suros max stability. Hammer forged gave hawkmoon rifled barrel basically. By making their new perks offer more, it made exotics (not all) useless as a legendary can achieve better stats. They were lazy. Instead of basically creating a new exotic by adding say braced frame to bad juju or rifled barrel to hawkmoon, they just brought them back thinking just having the exotic you already had drop would make people happy. Well not if it's a dumbed down unusable weapon. Also you get a new weapon like no time to explain, the exotic strangers rifle and the gun has fitted stock (a low tier stability perk). Not only is that archetype nerfed but a legendary like Nirwens mercy can have better stats. Then it made people grind their minds out for legendaries to give them that sense of power they used to have with a good weapon, everyone could achieve that with an exotic in the past. It created imbalances (not everyone gets god rolls to drop), boring metas (hcr dragon). But that sense of fun and feeling of power is gone. Too much grinding not enough time actually enjoying the content bores people. That's clearly just a small example. There's far more issues than that. They fixed a lot of the year 1 problems with the taken king but honestly I felt like it was a case of too little to late and made year 1 feel like a beta test (which it probably was). If you just start destiny now, you have an amazing game to play since you never knew what that year 1 feeling was like. Problem is the game has been out for years and most of their players are seasoned. Their content just isn't enough to satisfy those players. Their pvp balancing patches STILL take forever and half the time they make no sense. Was it necessary to change the zoom on sniper scopes, or the handling? I can understand flinch and aim assist but really? Was it necessary to have bloom when hand cannons already have damage drop off? Why did it take so long to tone down thorn? .004% auto rifle buff. lol how are these clowns employed. Just a lot of questionable decisions on their part. It's almost as if their pvp testers are clueless and not doing their jobs or they don't have enough man power in that area.
