Mary dying was stupid and avoidable. 1. The shot to Sherlock would have been a lot lower and he would have survived it. 2. If you have time to jump in front of a bullet then you have plenty of time to push them or the way, yeah sure, slips second decision and all but even so... 3. How in the f*ck did she manage to get in front of Sherlock in the time frame showed, reasonable if she'd jumped as soon as the bullet was fired but we saw her jump when it was like half way there...

  • 1. True, but the calibre of bullet and where it hits are all things to take into account. It's hard to say for sure either way. 2. Actually, perhaps not. It's pretty unlikely Sherlock would have allowed himself to be pushed out of the way. He took that vow (to protect Mary, John, and Rosie) ver seriously. I think he was willing to die for her there, but I suppose that's somewhat a matter of opinion. 3. Those shots throughout the whole 4th series (including the most recent episode) have been from Sherlock's perspective. He, against all odds, did not see her coming. He was focusing on everything else. Know what I mean? That's somewhat speculative, though.

  • Of course yes, bullet placement and caliber are things that should be taken into account. She died pretty quickly because it would very likely have pierced her diaphragm but it would very likely have hit Sherlock quite a bit further down which would very likely have been survivable. Sherlock may have taken the bow to protect them and he may have been willing to take a bullet for them if it was necessary but then again, if it was something he wouldn't see coming then it'd have taken him by surprise and he would have been moved out the way enough so that he was hit in the arm or something. And ok that actually makes sense, if was something he wouldn't have expected to happen then he would have likely seen it at the very last second after everything had started to happen.

  • A big part of it all too was his over confidence. He thought he accounted for everything, but he really only account for himself in a specific situation. I only liked the ending of the previous episode. I liked this one a lot more. Have you seen it?

  • Oh ok, somehow I read the title as season 4 episode 1... or was that actually the title and it was a typo?
