Hey I just recently got back onto destiny because I've been in the hospital and found out about the new exotic heavy weapons I see the event is over however I saw that I can still get to rank 7 in the book to get xurs tag will I still be able to get the quests for the weapons or is it too late?

You can still get the two new exoctic. Once you reach the tag just disassemble it and talk to Zavala. The quest will start. Also, once you get to 7 there is a chance of a random drop for the quest.
