We all know these things are lacking in power, and I've seen a few posts about this sort of thing. So I thought I'd offer an idea of my own. Ready?
What if Impact was also used for damage drop-off?
Allow me to explain:
Impact is described as being the damage inflicted by each round. Not difficult to understand, really. Besides this Impact could also govern how far the damage drop off is extended. Higher Impact auto rifles, like Shadow Price, would suffer less from damage drop off than, say, an Assembly II when hitting a target at medium range. So using this method Bungie could give auto rifles a dramatic increase in damage and maintain the same, steep damage drop off.
An auto rifle with an Impact of 2 but with a RoF of 100 would be much more aggressive in close range.
An auto rifle with an Impact of 28 but with a RoF of 77 would be better in medium range engagements.
Leave your comments below and let me know what you think.
Edit: Just so everyone knows this would only affect the impact stat for auto rifles and nothing else.
