Recent Matchmaking Experience

I've made this a separate post as most of the comments in Cozmo's original post isn't compiled with feedback and hopefully this will draw attention and get recognized. >90% of the the time I can never find a match in rumble, skirmish, supremacy and rift unless it's the daily. Can never ever find a match in classic 6v6, classic 3v3 or any freelance playlist. If zone control or mayhem is not the weekly but still available, only can I very rarely find a lobby. Any match I do find which is not the daily takes on average 3-7mins to find a lobby. 40% off lobbies I'm put into are hosted from other countries like JPN, US, EU etc (I'm in Australia) This means more than enough matches consist of many yellow and red bars. This is also means damage not registering, players teleporting and everything else that comes with lag is frequent. The Australia lobbies that I do find are generally all green bars, maybe only 1-3 red bars depending on the playlist. I know the matchmaking for trials is different but lately it seems even worse. More matches consisting of red bars and getting matched with teams from other countries. No one should forced to wait 5mins on average for a laggy match or to eventually be mongoosed. Then when I do eventually find a decent connection match that isn't super sweaty you break up the teams and I'm back to square one. Overall the matchmaking is still terrible, at least for me anyway. I don't know if it's the lack of players or the matchmaking is still way too strong on the skill base side, which is personally what I think. Being from Australia (not as huge player base as US) and in the top 1% probably doesn't help either but can not justify what I've said above. What I've said above is of no exaggeration and what I deal with whenever I play Destiny. I've attached a video for some examples. How is this acceptable to Bungie? How can you say "We will also be looking for lower-latency matches for longer than before. Essentially, this puts a stronger bias on connection quality, with less emphasis on skill matching." I can't remember the last time I played a 6s playlist which consisted of all green bars. Please just go back to whatever the matchmaking was before TTK. p.s I was able to write most of this up when I was waiting in orbit for a match :( Edit 1: I forgot to mention I have friends in Australia that aren't in the top1% nor are they noobs and they can usually find good connection lobbies quickly. This goes to show all of this isn't happening due to lack of players or lack of players in AUS.

I thought I recognized the gamer tag..... The issue is that you are a double-outlier. You are playing a game in Australia whose fanbase is largely centered in the US and Europe...and you are a top <1% player. Currently ranked about 5500th the world, according to Destinytracker. Whereas your other Aussie friends are more average players, so I'm not surprised that the game has an easier time finding them people to play...and with better connections. While I appreciate your frustration, Bungie really doesn't have ANY good options when it comes to dealing with someone like yourself. If they go completely skill-based, the game struggles to find you someone to play with. The odds of finding someone at your skill level who has a decent connection to you is slim-to-none. If they go completely connection-based....you basically ruin the play experience of others. Being an average player thrown into a game with you is about as "fun" or "relax" as being a Christian thrown to the Lions in the Roman Coliseum. And about as competitive. If they go some mixture of the two....you get what you're getting now. Shorter wait times than you'd be facing in a purely SBMM situation....but still with opponents that are going to be other parts of the world. As the game tries to keep you from stomping the crap out of average players. So the options that Bungie has here basically boil down to two really shitty options. Tolerate conditions that please larger numbers of lower skilled players....but risk driving you out of the game..... ....or tolerating conditions that please you....but risk driving large numbers of lower-skilled players out of the game.
