I had not played Destiny for quite a few weeks when I began playing again, about three weeks ago. In these three weeks I mainly played on the weekends, grinding to level up my character. I decided to save up any Faction Packages that I received until about light level 385, as there was a soft level cap there and the Packages dropped gear up to 390. Tonight, I decided that I could resist no longer and began to open the Packages at light level 384. Much to my dismay, each of my leveled factions, New Monarchy, Crucible, and Vanguard, only had one Package each. I had grinded for hours, only to have 6 of my 7 New Monarchy Packages deleted, along with 4 of my 5 Crucible and Vanguard Packages. (Obviously, these are estimated numbers, but I had a pretty close count in my head as I ground out thousands of reputation points.) I Googled the issue, and it would appear that this feature is intentionally in the game. Firstly, I strongly disagree with this, but if that's going to be the way it is, the player needs to be made aware of it IN GAME. When you approach the Vendor, you are prompted to open the package. If a player clicks the button to select "not now," as I had, a message needs to appear, informing them that new Packages will not be received when ranking up until this one has been opened. A question similar to "Are you sure you don't want to open this package?" should pop up, with the player needing to confirm, "Yes I'm sure," before they can continue without opening the package. You may think this would be annoying, but what's worse; wasting five seconds or losing 5 Packages which took hours to grind? I know which one I choose.
