I've made this a separate post as most of the comments in Cozmo's original post isn't compiled with feedback and hopefully this will draw attention and get recognized.
>90% of the the time I can never find a match in rumble, skirmish, supremacy and rift unless it's the daily.
Can never ever find a match in classic 6v6, classic 3v3 or any freelance playlist.
If zone control or mayhem is not the weekly but still available, only can I very rarely find a lobby.
Any match I do find which is not the daily takes on average 3-7mins to find a lobby.
40% off lobbies I'm put into are hosted from other countries like JPN, US, EU etc (I'm in Australia)
This means more than enough matches consist of many yellow and red bars.
This is also means damage not registering, players teleporting and everything else that comes with lag is frequent.
The Australia lobbies that I do find are generally all green bars, maybe only 1-3 red bars depending on the playlist.
I know the matchmaking for trials is different but lately it seems even worse. More matches consisting of red bars and getting matched with teams from other countries.
No one should forced to wait 5mins on average for a laggy match or to eventually be mongoosed.
Then when I do eventually find a decent connection match that isn't super sweaty you break up the teams and I'm back to square one.
Overall the matchmaking is still terrible, at least for me anyway.
I don't know if it's the lack of players or the matchmaking is still way too strong on the skill base side, which is personally what I think. Being from Australia (not as huge player base as US) and in the top 1% probably doesn't help either but can not justify what I've said above.
What I've said above is of no exaggeration and what I deal with whenever I play Destiny.
I've attached a video for some examples.
How is this acceptable to Bungie?
How can you say "We will also be looking for lower-latency matches for longer than before. Essentially, this puts a stronger bias on connection quality, with less emphasis on skill matching."
I can't remember the last time I played a 6s playlist which consisted of all green bars.
Please just go back to whatever the matchmaking was before TTK.
p.s I was able to write most of this up when I was waiting in orbit for a match :(
Edit 1: I forgot to mention I have friends in Australia that aren't in the top1% nor are they noobs and they can usually find good connection lobbies quickly. This goes to show all of this isn't happening due to lack of players or lack of players in AUS.

Can't have good MM when playerbase size isn't what it was. Problem isn't going away without an influx of new/returning players. Plus some ppl hit SRL and Strike playlists instead of pvp lately, so that just exacerbates your issue.

Edited by TheGodOfShadowz: 12/29/2016 6:03:50 PMNo matter what they do,the problem to wait 5-7 minutes in orbit is because are no players who are want to play pvp anymore, they moved to other games. I suggested to Bungie to split the matchmaking as it is in sparrow racing. Reduce the search to 6 players

Matchmaking right now is a pile of shit. They know it and will keep protecting the type of player of Deej'a skill level.
-
Haven't played just long enough to forget how bad it truly is, and was about to log on... Nope. Thanks for saving me.

Edited by WaffleStomp: 12/27/2016 1:41:42 PMFrom NZ and ever since the update I have had nothing but shit connections. First few days seemed good then bam. Even when matched against all green bars the hit reg seems off lately. Dying delayed etc....

Both the OP and those criticising pub stomping have merit to their arguments here but neither are actually at fault. The source of everyone's frustration is peer to peer connections and lack of a ranked playlist i.e. the problem lies with Bungie. It's a shame to see so many guardians turning on each other out of sheer frustration with the game. Be good to each other people or our community will just keep on shrinking.

Same here. Horrible matchmaking experiences recently. long waits, matches starting early with uneven teams, the one or 2 players lagging there booty holes off, and horrible damage registration. Every sniper headshot gives me that ding you get with a headshot but it glitches so it sounds like your game is about to crash and the headshot doesn't register til like a minute later. Dunno wtf is going on, I'm hoping it's the Dawning. After the Sbmm nerf, things were looking good for about a week before they turned to crap again. Almost as if it was undone.
-
Population is dwindling. Its about time for them to start consolidating PVP playlists. They won't do it because it blatantly shows the game is dying but it needs to be done.

22 RepliesAlso.... WTF DO YOU EXPECT? Do you think there are that many people who have 53 days in the game with a 2.1 kd?! Lol. I'd bet money there aren't more than like 50 worldwide. But being the tryhard that you are, I'm sure you know this stat already. I'm not aggravated that you're good, or whatever you're doing to have those stats. I'm more annoyed that you blame Bungie for your outrageous kd and your elongated wait times to find a single guardian who has any chance at all of having a fair fight against you. I can tell you that I don't want to play you. Lol. Ever. I'm sure it would be one of the most annoying and laughable experiences I've ever had in the game.

I just loaded up a game of rift, I ran into a 6 stack and all of my teammates were solo. Whenever this happens now, I just leave that game because I don't want to get my life farmed away. I load up again. Join in late to the same game. This happened another 4 times. WTF

That looks like invisible Superman flying everywhere
-
2 RepliesThere just aren't that many people playing anymore. Especially not in the classic playlists.
-
Looks like a camper to me.
-
5 RepliesWhy would you assume that the problem is the skill based match making rules, and not the player base? It is a 3 year old game.
-
I checked several of your game and the majority of the guys you are going against have kd's in the negative. I would say that SBMM is definitely more relaxed. What more do you guys want?
-
21 RepliesThey have casual average players like me dropping like flies. The recent changes have made it to where crucible is only fun for the top tier players.

2 RepliesEdited by kellygreen45: 12/27/2016 6:41:11 PMI thought I recognized the gamer tag..... The issue is that you are a double-outlier. You are playing a game in Australia whose fanbase is largely centered in the US and Europe...and you are a top <1% player. Currently ranked about 5500th the world, according to Destinytracker. Whereas your other Aussie friends are more average players, so I'm not surprised that the game has an easier time finding them people to play...and with better connections. While I appreciate your frustration, Bungie really doesn't have ANY good options when it comes to dealing with someone like yourself. If they go completely skill-based, the game struggles to find you someone to play with. The odds of finding someone at your skill level who has a decent connection to you is slim-to-none. If they go completely connection-based....you basically ruin the play experience of others. Being an average player thrown into a game with you is about as "fun" or "relax" as being a Christian thrown to the Lions in the Roman Coliseum. And about as competitive. If they go some mixture of the two....you get what you're getting now. Shorter wait times than you'd be facing in a purely SBMM situation....but still with opponents that are going to be other parts of the world. As the game tries to keep you from stomping the crap out of average players. So the options that Bungie has here basically boil down to two really shitty options. Tolerate conditions that please larger numbers of lower skilled players....but risk driving you out of the game..... ....or tolerating conditions that please you....but risk driving large numbers of lower-skilled players out of the game.
-
No problems here. Must be you.
-
I'm from New Zealand and experience the same thing. It's woeful.
-
Living in Aus and I am certainly not in the top 1% but still have an average wait time of around 5 to 10 minutes. When I do find a match quickly I get maybe 30 seconds of game time before 'we're breaking up those teams ...' and I quietly rage at bungie
-
Edited by TM_AerialAce: 12/28/2016 4:26:11 AMplayed destiny pvp for the first time other than trials in a month and it was hell... lol. when they said they nerfed sbmm it actually was pretty good for a bit but it honestly feels like sbmm was buffed again

3 RepliesI like your shoes
pls give me directions
1 ReplyJeezy Kableezy, how have you not broken your controller in half yet? That is absolutely terrible. I hope this gets fixed soon. No one should have to put up with that madness.
-
Well said. I'm in Aus too and have very similar experiences. Not sure how they fix it but it is broken at the moment
-
Damn.. I feel your pain, I'm top 1% also but don't get lag and issues that bad. That's pathetic
-
Where are the 40% off lobbies? I like a bargain!
