I agree with leaving shotguns. I personally feel the problem is with other guns. Here's my thoughts:
1) Auto Rifles desperately need a damage buff. A shotgunner can close the gap from mid (sometimes long) range through an auto rifle firing at them, get the kill, and continue on. With a damage buff, a shotgun wielder needs to be more accountable for their aggression as opposed to just charging in willy-nilly through whatever.
2) I would love to see Hand Cannons get a stability buff. Range seems fair to me, but it really sucks when in midrange engagements you cannot count on your shots hitting the target without slowing down to a near suicidal fire rate.
3) I really feel like there is a huge gap in the TTK damage a slow firing machine gun can do vs a high fire rate one. Is there anything that can be addressed here?
4) Guns aren't the only issue. I will catch a lot of shit for this, but Hunters need to be brought in line with other classes in my opinion. The tools they have access to feel pretty unfair sometimes. Blade Dancers feel impossible to kill. Golden Gun users feel like a no hope death sentence. Shadow Shot grabs people from so far out it's insane. Shadowstep, throwing knives, Invisibility...Hunters have it a little too good. I feel (just me mind you) that to be the highest competition you can be, you must be a Hunter.
5) Special Ammo still feels too plentiful for me. I don't think there would be nearly as many Crucible issues with snipers and shotguns if ammo accountability were a thing. If you have to pick your shots more wisely, it can swing people to use primary weapons more, which, when one-hit-kill options are available, aren't as attractive.
Just my thoughts. Thanks for giving us a chance to speak up! This is a welcome change.
