I spoke with the Sandbox team that balances the weapons in the game. This is part of a running dialogue between us where I make sure they receive your feedback. They wanted to give you some information about their process.
Hey everybody! We wanted to take time to let you all know that, while we did not include a balance patch in The Dawning, we are listening to your feedback. We appreciate all of you who return to Destiny over and over again, and we respect the things you have to say about what you are seeing and feeling as you play it.
As we wage wars in our playtest labs, we’re taking a lot of things into account: player data, your feedback, and our own gameplay experiences. We’ve heard the conversation about, and felt for ourselves, shotgun dominance (Yes, we see you Matador 64), but we feel strongly that our goal shouldn’t be to nerf them into the ground. Instead, we’re looking at solutions that could bring shotguns into a better state of balance with the rest of the guns in the game. In doing this, we would still want Shotguns to be effective and fun to wield. We could quickly and easily break shotguns and call it a day, but it’s important to us that we explore positive changes that can make Destiny better for everyone.
Thanks for playing and being so passionate about Destiny. We all wish you the happiest holidays and look forward to you kicking our asses in SRL.
The right time and place for a deployment of Sandbox changes is something we’ll investigate further in the new year. In the meantime, our playtest labs are home to a process we’re using to explore the current state of combat in Destiny.

14 RepliesIn my opinion, I think a good way to fix a lot of issues in crucible is to remove special ammo crates. Hear me out: Remove all special ammo crates and have the only way to get this ammo is from primary kills only. This is what would happen- 1-All primaries just got a buff. You will not see players running around the map using just special weapons the whole match. In order to use those special weapons, you gotta kill with your primary. 2-You just made several exotics a lot more powerful creating more loadout diversity. Want that Invective and Icebreaker ammo regen? Well, now you gotta sacrifice that mapador range for that special slot. Feel like using an Universal shottie or NLB snipes all game? Looks like we are not gonna be using that clever dragon this match. 3-Sidearms compete too. These weapons, tho good, still are passed over currently for mapadors and sniper one shots and Saladin fusions. With sidearm ammo available at respawn, you just brought these lil buggers up to par with other special weapon selections. I'm sure it might need a tweaking or two, like when you switch weapons in that special slot, you lose all special ammo. 4-No more getting pissed at other allied players for taking your special ammo out of crates when not close enough. Also you eliminated the camping at these crates. "Where's Jim?" "Oh he's waiting for special ammo. He's got another 10 seconds to go before getting back into the fight." "Then he can have our back." 5-You just made an adjustment to the game that does NOT effect the pve community. Pretty much all weapons didn't get nerfed in the process and the pve world can continue to spin. Again I'm sure there would be minor tweaks that would be needed of course, but in my opinion, this adjustment could help out alot. That's my 2¢.
