So I'll probably get yelled at for this but has anyone ever considered making snipers (in this fantasy fps) gain dmg the longer the bullet travels?
Take them back to what the used to be (pre flinch nerf) but add the opposite of ranged dmg falloff. Have the mechanics for dmg work along the lines of the bullets increase in dmg the farther they travel. A close range head shot wouldn't kill, a mid range might, dependent on armor, and a long range would act as normal.
THEN increase shotgun range dmg fall off so that either you made a hell of a sniper shot or the other player let you get close enough to lick them...
I'd also like to see quick dmg spikes be able to pull a person out of a run or falter a jump. Someone sprinting at you, bullets should slow them down... Someone jumping straight at you, bullets should be able to move/alter their course.
And as a side slap, from a warlock main, make jazz hands come out in pulses versus being able to hold the damn button down. Every other roaming super requires a press per shot, so should it.

This is a shoddy idea, snipers would be unusable with the maps we currently have. The only thing that would happen is shotguns would be more broken, and snipers would be a nonfactor.

I can understand where that idea is coming from but i don't think its the best. I don't think i could take sniping someone in the head and not having them die. Doing that takes skill and not being rewarded for it would be silly. And touching on your course adjusting bullets, i feel that wouldn't help at all. Having this would make people scared of gunfights and pushing up. No disrespect but u think your trying to change the game to much. Still great ideas but might have to be majorly altered
