WEAPON BALANCING IS A SCAM "PvP cycle of dysfunction": weapon balancing-->1 or 2 predominant weapons flush out-->everyone gravitates to them because it's survive or die-->bungie shows statistics of "overuse"-->we feel ashamed-->paves the way for new incoming weapon balance All along the way, Bungie feeds into the false narrative that they are listening to our feedback, then actually make changes based on our concerns. The whole time, of course, they have their own agenda. The common narrative has been that Bungie can't balance weapons. However, by keeping the meta narrow, then "making balance changes" keeps crucible fresh and gets the most longevity out its content and assets. It's part of their cycle of changes. They let us believe we have a voice. We do to a degree but not as much as they lead us to believe.

  • Why on earth would you feel ashamed by some statistics? Using the thing that is winning the most shouldn't feel wrong. Using the thing you like the most and losing because it's not the best, also shouldn't feel wrong. "Play to win" How are they not listening? Do you think the crucible is broken? If so in which ways, and what do you think the best solution would be? The simple fact that they are working on something should be plenty. How old is destiny at this point? How long do you think they have been working on destiny two? It's pretty awesome they are even giving us enough to get by until they drop D2. I just don't understand the view point of "that's nice but they are really just weapon shaming and not listening, they can't balance the weapons" Do you think that they can make a game that has this many weapons and they are all perfectly "balanced"? I think you want load outs or don't understand how changing one aspect of the crucible will affect the rest of it. I understand you distaste as a consumer but you have to look at the whole picture.

It's a figure of speech for a tool Bungie uses to pave the way for a weapon balance, creating a false narrative that we overuse a weapon when in fact the exact opposite is true. If you actually read what I wrote instead of letting your fanboy agenda override your comprehension, you might learn something. You might learn I'm not dissatisfied, no matter how hard you try and paint that picture. Go back and re-read it. It's not that long. It's about a false narrative. I even argue that by purposely keeping the meta narrow, Bungie extends the life of its assets and content. I leave it up to the reader to decide if that's good or bad.

  • P.s. I would never try to "paint that picture" I know this place can be harsh or "toxic" but the text is right there. To skew someone else's take for really no gain seems a bit preposterous. Again, my bad homie.

No harm no foul. I think we both operate in this toxic environment so we react accordingly. People are very monolithic here. Either Bungie can do no wrong, or Bungie can do no right and so people tend to gravitate to one camp or the other.

  • My apologies. I did misread the middle section about the "common narrative" I wasn't trying to encourage a reaction like that, but I did speak out of line as I misread and misinterpreted the comment. I would like to mention I'm not so much trying to jump to bungies defense as I am the "sandbox" guys. I know they love the game and take what they do very seriously, and sometimes to point out the balancing questions can change some salt to a little broader perspective. Obviously you are well informed though and it wasn't needed here. Maybe a few comments down.....

  • Well in all fairness, my headline probably set the tone for your response. However, I purposely worded it that way because for 2 and half years I'm hearing the same conversation over and over and over. I feel that Bungie is keeping crucible fresh by keeping the meta narrow. I really do. I think you have to. The alternative is creating more content and that is cost prohibitive. Now, allowing for a narrative (or promoting) one that is false is not right. Might be a spinfoil hat to some, but when do you ever get full transparency from a privately held gaming company? One, that is directly responsible to a publicly held company I might add.

  • Never. But only a fool would think they would be fully transparent. I mean look at how people respond now. Defiantly not in their best interest. I feel like the whole "we are listening" thing should be taken with a grain of salt and the only reason it seems like a false narrative is due to the naive nature or maturity level of the community (on these forums specifically) as a whole. It's like watching the news and taking everything verbatim. I mean we all know better, right? Haha Oh well, cheers mate!

Fully transparent would be foolish for them to try but even more foolish for them to give that illusion when speaking on weapon balancing. I like the media analogy given what we just went through here in the States. Or, still going through... cheers, bro
