Most of the problems with trying to balance weapons in this game comes from the availability of ammo for each special or power weapon. Why halo worked so well was due to the timed nature of power weapons and the limited number on the map at one time. I understand that destiny is a different game but trying to balance primary weapons against power or special weapons will always be very difficult and invariably ends up with a push pull balance elevating something else to op. This has been the cycle since day one, and i am aware that this was acknowledged as not a bad thing by budgie. With every gun will have a season. Maybe it's time to make primary guns great. To do this instead of trying to nerf and buff each weapon class just reduce special ammo availability. At this moment you can play any game type without running out of special so there's need to use primaries if you dont want to. As the name implies primary should be most used but at the moment this is not the case due to constant special ammo. Im just not sure that the community would like it though, it didn't work before due to ice breaker and side arms. The only other option is to make a quicker ttk on primaries so they can challenge gap closing shotguns and lane camping snipers. Which I think is a lot more difficult to balance.
