Regarding shotguns. There needs to be a trade off like there is with snipers. Not just rate of fire but more. High impact snipers have low aim assist with large damage output (more body shot damage + being able to snipe supers consistently) Medium Impact snipers have average aim assist less body shot damage than the super high impact archetype, it's the middle ground between damage and aim assist. Then you have the low and super low impact snipers. Very low bodyshot damage and unable to snipe supers at all but is capable of reaching very high aim assist. For shotguns there's no such thing. The clear cut option is matador and all in its archetype (or close to its archetype). Shotguns with lower impact such as 44 Curtain call, stolen will, hakkee shotguns, two to the morgue (and many more) are outclassed by matador in every aspect. There is no incentive at all to run any other shotgun in the game. Whereas with snipers, a good sniper will always outsnipe a worse sniper regardless of the sniper archetype being used. You give a good shotgunner a stolen will and a bad shotgunner a matador, even with the given skills, the good shotgunner will lose countless shotgun battles. How to fix this? Add a trade off for shotguns. Super high impact shotties will destroy anything at close range but is unable to reach the max range (rifles barrel, reinforced barrel, hammer forge), so if you wanna keep things super close you run that archetype. Give the weaker archetypes significantly more range in exchange for damage. So you won't be shotgunning any roaming supers or shotgunning anyone off of revives but you will have a lot less damage drop off with higher RoF shotties allowing you to utilise that higher RoF. Bungie can increase and decrease damage output how they see fit but this is my solution regarding shotguns. Obviously there's more in depth stats that bungie could toy with but this is my opinion as a consistent player of the game.
