This game already has a CoD TTK...its being enforced by the spamming of special weapons. What people are calling for is for primary weapons to kill fast enough to PUNISH shotgun warriors for getting caught outside of shotgun range (and thus make shotguns a SITUATIONAL weapon once again)....and to punish players for losing situational awareness, and getting flanked. Right now, unless that player with the primary has room to backpedal, there is NO penalty in this game for maining a shotgun, and getting caught outside of shotgun range. Eight-tenths of a second is enough time to run, slide, shadestep, blink, Titan-skate into shotgun range from all the way out to mid-range. Right now....at high levels of play....most primary gunfights are inconclusive unless BOTH players decide to step into the fight and see it through to an conclusion. Last week in a Crucible match, I go the complete drop on a Striker Titan, and initiated a close (AR) range firefight with my primary. Despite my not missing a shot, he had time enough to: 1. Realize he was taking fire. 2. Locate where it was coming from. 3. Turn around and return fire with his own weapon. 4. Realize he ha no hope of winning. 5 . Hit me with a FoH FTW. THAT----is so ridiculouls----that I couldn't even get mad. I just sat there and smh at the absurdity of it. I lose because my primary can't kill someone who was caught SLEEPWALKING, before he can sit down and eat his lunch. THAT is the ridiculous state of primary weapons in PVP right now....and why people spam special weapons. The primaries are so weak that its almost impossible to kill a good player with one unless he makes some kind of stupid mistake. There is simply too much time for him to escape...or turn the tables on you like that Striker did to me. Why leave myself open to that? Next time I' pull out the Matador and kill him before he even realizes I'm there. THAT"S your CoD TTK.

Well, it was risky trying to engage a Titan at close range with a primary. Unless I have room to dodge and weave, I wouldn't go for that strategy. That's where a good sidearm, shotgun or fusion rifle would be needed. Isn't that how it's supposed to work? I don't agree with your CoD comment. I'm a LONG time CoD player and this game is not like it. Thank, God. What Crucible mode do you play the most? I notice that the modes also affect how the game is played. I play solo in a lot of 6v6 modes, and I don't have the same experience that a heavy Trials player would have. That's probably why I don't have a problem with the current meta. That makes it harder for Bungie to tweak the meta in a way that will please most people.

  • It is only a risk in THIS game....because the game's primaries are so weak. In every other shooter I've played, he'd have paid the price for losing situational awareness that badly...and would have been dead before he even realized I was there. Bottomline, is that the fight took place at the distance that most auto rifle gunfights do....and I made the mistake of thinking that (because I did catch him so completely by surprise) that I would have time to finish him off. Clearly I was wrong....and thumb skill (and a fully-charged super) trumps mind skill As for play modes, the meta is the meta. I play mainly 6s...and Clever Dragon, Palindrome, Eyasluna and Matador dominate there as well. Its just that you see more snipers and fusion rifles in 6s, than you'd likely see in Trials.
