Banned for a week on absolutely no grounds

I run Comcast Business, work from home, and never have an issue running the internet from my house. I don't have cable and run several Apple TV's and Roku devices to stream all of my media (all of which I do sparingly if at all while gaming). However, my network connection is deemed "unstable" by Bungie and you've blocked me from SRL for a week?! This is absolutely ridiculous and stands on no ground. I took ONE year off from this game, returned, and committed myself to playing and achieving all the rewards again. I loved SRL last year and now I'm unable to participate. I have all the data to show you that you're wrong and that my connection IS stable. More importantly, considering this - I'm done playing this game indefinitely if this is how Bungie is going to treat its players. I'm sure there's some legalise that I agreed to, accepting these terms but that doesn't change the ethical view on this case. As a valid player of the community, I'm disappointed.

Hello, In destiny there are bans and restrictions. Bans are permanent, while restrictions are temporary. Bungie will not discuss or overturn bans or restrictions under any circumstances. Please keep in mind poor and unstable connection does qualify for a restriction, or ban in serious occasions. No player is banned or restricted based on reports alone, every user is thoroughly investigated to obtain proof of misdeeds before action is taken on thier account: https://twitter.com/DeeJ_BNG/status/738841560738070529 For anymore information you can visit this article: https://www.bungie.net/7_Destiny-Account-Restrictions-and-Banning-Policies/en/Help/Article/11929 If your restriction was due to bad connection please see bungie's Network troubleshooting guide

    • Same thing happened to me today. There are other players that are going through the same injustice.

"None of this would of ever had happened if".... Bungie would take a few bucks from their BILLION DOLLAR franchise & set up dedicated servers! This game will be forever lost in PvP without dedicated servers. The amount of INCORRECT server errors alone on a day to day basis makes me vote in user favor. With the millions of players & connections out there, theres bound to be problems but the problems would be greatly reduced if the server source was always the same. Seriously, why waste the money we spend on a pretty looking tower for christmas instead of setting up stable servers... i dont need a mask on halloween... i need to play...

*pretentious voice* - I think it's pretty obvious what's going on here Chris. You have been lag-switching to win patrols and that DDOS attack you originated against Taniks, who has no house, but does have internet, was a little over the top. Moreover, was it necessary to t-bag every single thrall in the Dark Beyond mission on the moon after you woke the hive? I mean, seriously? What did you think? That Bungie would just let that slide? Let's be honest with ourselves Chris. You got that raid gear on all of your pretty little guardians from using an aim-bot. What you say? That's right Chris - an aim bot. Nobody, and I mean no-buh-dee, has over 100,000 kills with Super Good Advice. Not even you. So why do I bring it up? Because it's unstable, and you are unstable. You and your internet. Unstable. The proof is in the pudding Steve. Can I call you Steve? Steve, your Hunter has a .35 k/d. Only someone with a 1,200 bit/s phone coupler modem and a 56k cassette tape drive has a .35 k/d. It hurts Steve. I know. Once Bungie instituted that penalty for red bars making it harder for you to get kills, it really hit you in the gut, didn't it? And that's when it happened Steve. Bungie pulled the plug on that TI-994A you've been playing destiny on. They couldn't stand to watch you milk that .35 up to a .36 any longer. You forced their hand. You only have yourself to blame Steve. Only yourself. Shhhhh...

        • With Bungie, it's damned if they do and damned if they don't. With all the massive complaints about lagging and red-bar warriors, they had to do something. Unfortunately, some innocent people will get caught up massive net they throw down. However, it does seem that there is problem with Comcast users.

        • I'm spending a bunch of time measuring things on pingtest.net while playing and matchmaking (obviously not in crucible for a week). It's consistently A-rated, between 1-3 ms of jitter (average of 1), 0% packet loss at all, and an average 33 ms ping. I'll run more tonight and at busier times, but I've never experienced a problem on my end. I play a lot with a friend 1500 miles away, and he and I never run into problems lagging with each other, despite occasionally seeing someone red bar in our matches. This is not on our end. Bungie must have implemented something in this last update that is affecting people with otherwise normal connections. The only thing we can do is try to make this more visible. There is no communication once again from this company, and it's disappointing to say the least.

Last night I tracked latency spikes over 250ms to a Comcast player in Missouri from South Carolina through Atlanta. There wasn't any packet loss, but in a 25 count ping, there were about 8 that spiked over 200ms against numbers in the 50's and 60's for the same region being routed differently.. That is something people need to understand...not everyone is going to be connecting to every host via the same areas/routes you are testing against, and those hosts can be scattered all over the map. Latency to Arkansas will not necessarily be the same as to Southern California, Canada, the Great Lakes, or any of the 13+ other systems you need to contact for 6v6 instances (11 players, 2 separate Bungie Data Centers, and your console's networks). So you can't look at a localized snapshot and say your internet is good....the internet is a network of interconnected networks that scatter the globe. You don't just connect directly to any one address...you can hop across a dozen or more different networks to get there, some of which are managed by different ISP's. Your ISP is responsible for establishing and maintaining those routing arrangements. This falls under purview of their Tier3 team...you usually don't get in touch with them unless you are escalated from a lower tier or push to be put in contact with them directly. May want to check out your ISP's page over at downdetector.com: Direct link to Comcast Comcast is consistently in the top of their Top 10 List for reported problems. They also track all kinds of services on their Companies page. There is even a page for Destiny. There are links to companion sites in the footer for other regions like aussieoutages.com and such. EDIT:just saw this in the comments section at that site:
This is now almost in every Major city. Comcast Business as well as Residential Connections are both going down or being extremely slow, Dial Up connection slow. Houston, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Chicago, Atlanta, Washington D.C, Boston MS, New York .... Every time you ask them they say it a local issue and that its getting worked on... Well when all the major city's are having it its not a "local" issue its now nation wide Issue with both residents and Business. They are going to lose a lot of businesses and clients cause of this, it's better to say whats going on than to hide it. Every time they maintenance a line or are working on upgrades they never send out an email stating repairs or downtime possibilities....
Says it went up an hour ago, which would be about 6pm Eastern time. Just saying, where there's smoke....

          • I recently got banned for 2 weeks also but I'm mostly at fault when I played 12 games within 2 days when my internet had not been paid for and was slowed down. My clan tag some friends suggested made it worse too. But I find it weird that I've been playing with the same issue every once in a while since day one and they chose to restrict me now...? I mean I have an alternative account just in case but... ???

          • The same thing happened to me this morning. I am always green bar and no one ever complains that im lagging. This is some BS that we get banned without warning. Then Bungie has the nerve to say they will not over turn the ban.

            • From what I've been seeing around the web, Comcast is having some very specific issues that THEY need to address. May need to be hitting them up via their support options....their own portal, dslreports.com, Twitter/Facebook, direct email if they have one. Put the pressure on them to get on top of things.

Ok, so this better be a mistake. I don't have resources nor have a care in the world to "cheat" in this game. I don't eve PVP unless it's IB or SRL. My network is absolutely sufficient so says my employer who pays for it. I've contacted Comcast and there is/has not been any inconsistencies over the course of the past several months. So, by this - I should have been "banned" months/years ago since I've been in the same exact environment for some time. I don't get much time off and I was off today, looking forward to racing. This is a complete letdown.
