Thoughts on Weapon Balance

I spoke with the Sandbox team that balances the weapons in the game. This is part of a running dialogue between us where I make sure they receive your feedback. They wanted to give you some information about their process. [quote]Hey everybody! Instead, we’re looking at solutions that could bring shotguns into a better state of balance with the rest of the guns in the game. In doing this, we would still want Shotguns to be effective and fun to wield. We could quickly and easily break shotguns and call it a day, but it’s important to us that we explore positive changes that can make Destiny better for everyone. We all wish you the happiest holidays and look forward to you kicking our asses in SRL.[/quote] The right time and place for a deployment of Sandbox changes is something we’ll investigate further in the new year. In the meantime, our playtest labs are home to a process we’re using to explore the current state of combat in Destiny.

    DO NOT nerf shotguns. Shotguns are in a perfect spot right now. If anything they need a buff to consistency. Shotguns only feel so dominant because primaries are so weak. For those scared of a primary buff, we're not asking for kill times to mimic CoD. We don't want that. We want consistency, and primaries to feel strong. Dont' be so afraid of strong primaries, strong primaries is a good thing. I can guarantee if we have strong primaries, you'll see more primary engagements, and shotguns wont be a problem. [b]Exotics[/b] Last word should be balanced separate. It's a unique weapon, and every blanket nerf to Hand Cannons has hurt, and ruined the uniqueness of this Exotic Hand cannon, and bring back hip fire on Last Word. Buff Thorn's range, and slight DoT damage on Thorn as well (Since we have an Artifact that basically nerfs any DoT burn). Buff Hawkmoons range and stability, and make all Hawkmoon LiTC bullets the same as their legendary counter parts. IMHO, LiTC should be a special perk for the Hawkmoon only, but that's just me. I'm not too bothered by LiTC on Legendary HC's [b]Primary Weapons[/b] Also, remove HCR on pulse rifles. The fact someone can win an engagement over High Cal Rounds is stupid. Buff Pulse Rifles to their patch 2.0 state, (minus the range, keep the range how it is right now) Buff Auto Rifles, Monte Carlo Archtype should be doing any where from 22-24 a crit, and Suros archetype should be doing any where from 28-30 a crit. Buff Hand Cannons, remove bloom, and overall make them more consistent. Scout Rifles are in a fine spot. They don't need to be nerfed or buffed. [b]Secondaries[/b] Shotguns, keep them the same, and add a buff to consistency. Snipers, unnerf their handling. I shouldn't be punished for being aggressive with a sniper. If I've practiced enough to be aggressive with a sniper I should be rewarded. Not punished. Reduce body shot damage, and bring back headshot damage multiplier. Fusion Rifles could be a little more consistent. [b]Subclasses[/b] Unnerf Golden Gun, and Blade Dancer could use a buff in consistency Stormcaller melee should have damage drop off, along with their super. Buff arcbolts for both Blade and Stormcaller. Adjust the damage cone on Lightning Grenades Slightly reduce the aim assist on Fusion/Flux grenades Slightly reduce how aggressive/duration that Skip Grenades can track Unnerf the tag radius on Firebolt Unnerf the Flame Shield on Sunsinger If I shoot a Jug Titan with a Golden Gun I should be able to kill that sucker. A Jugshield shouldn't be able to tank a golden gun shot.
