Say you were a judge/jury and there was a case in which you decide if the man should have life in prison or the death penalty. It can be any crime that lead up to either of these sentences, but you may choose whether you want them to live or die. Would you show them mercy or get rid of them for good?

Most of the time the death penalty is never carried out so both options are pretty much the same
-
Neither. Fight one another in a giant arena to the death and charge people to watch. Instead of the criminal justice system sucking money let it generate revenue for the common good. Education and poverty. If you win a certain amount of death matches you are completely pardoned and free. Another mistake you don't go back in to fight again full strength. That guy gets his arm amputated and fights one handed. Or you can take your second chance and live peacefully
-
Imma go into full blown liberal leftist mode here. "Those that want to kill child touchers are monsters. These people have a disease. Would you kill your grandmother for having cancer?"
-
Lifetime sentences are cheaper. Plus there are a good portion death row inmates that are later found innocent...a little too late.
-
Depends on what it is. Murder- Death Child molestation- public castration You get the picture.

Execution by firing squad

If you kill them they get what they want, make them suffer by wasting the rest of there life.
-
Life in prison awaiting the death penalty.
-
I think sowing mercy would be letting them die instead of having them suffer in prison for the rest of their life
-
I'd take everyone with me
-
I would give him... THE FIERY FIST OF PAIN
-
Depends on the parole setup...
-
liberty or death bear in mind to enforce the death penalty; they have to actually catch you first
-
It depends on what the convict wants. If they choose death, kill them. If they killed somebody, kill them. Otherwise, I would probably go life in prison.
-
Kill someone = Death penalty Don't kill anyone = Prison sentence
-
Sorry but for me, the type of crime matters
-
I don't know what's the point in having life sentences with no chance of getting parole.
-
Depends on the crime that person committed. I think child molesters should be put to death.
-
Depends. life unless the convict committed a rather large crime

Edited by ElectroSfere: 12/12/2016 7:12:51 PMI mean, if we're being honest here, neither are fair. One you get to spend potentially 70+ years in a cage, the other your life ends quickly This was assuming no parole
-
Depends on the case and person. Life in prison by the way, isn't really mercy. It's often stated as mercy by people who've never experienced prison before though.
-
Let them choose. If they aren't allowed to choose, life in prison, because that's what I'd prefer.
-
Ask the criminal if they would prefer suffering in prison for the rest of their life or ending it all with a bullet since Lethal Injection isn't as painless anymore.
-
Let the victim choose
