Changes to Matchmaking Settings on 12/08/2016

Today the development team is making a few changes to Matchmaking settings with the goal of improving your experiences in the Crucible. Here is a quote straight from the team with some details about what is being changed. [quote] We’ve made a change to the Matchmaking system in an effort to increase match quality. Our specific goal is to reduce the number of matches that begin before they fill up with players. To achieve this, we are expanding the available skill-range for other players earlier and more aggressively. We will also be looking for lower-latency matches for longer than before. Essentially, this puts a stronger bias on connection quality, with less emphasis on skill matching. This may result in slightly longer matchmaking times in some cases. For some of you, this could mean that you’ll be matched with opponents well outside of your skill range. We hope the tradeoff is worth it to improve the Crucible ecosystem in general. As always, our work in designing a Crucible experience that serves all players is never finished. Be sure to let us know what you experience out there. Our forum, just like our game, is a constant source of great feedback. [/quote] These changes are now live in all playlists*.       What is wrong with control? Every game tends to have at least two red bars and the lag is bad. I killed a stormcaller but he goes on to kill me and two other players and then as my teammates are shooting him, he finally dies and I get the credit for his kill. I still look forward to log onto a game 6 months down the road and get credit kill for a game, way back when. It wasn't this bad till you made these changes. Maybe, it was always this bad since ROI update. This game is suppose to be competitive, the only competitive part is how to beat the game red bars and lag or whatever is wrong with your testing.

        • Actually, load of crap that did. I just got into a game where EVERYONE was redbar. I was the only green bar. I got killed behind solid objects more than I did in an actual gunfight. Oh yeah, and also, when i'm not in a crap lobby, i'll be facing the sweatiest people every. How do you like three Universal Remotes+Matadors? I think that you didn't make a change, you just said something to make people THINK that their lobbies are better. Sort of like a placebo effect

          • My last feedback as I'm nearly finished with Crucible for ever. It was a bit better during Iron Banner. Since 2.5.0 it's a complete joke. 60% of the enemy team are either solid red bar or continually going green to red - usually red when they are rushing our team or taking an objective (? Maybe lag switching?). This is Control, Clash and Supremacy over the past week. And it now takes 5+ minutes to find 12 players - if we can find that many. Many games I am matched 6 vs 4 or 5 vs 3 or even 3 vs 3. I check when this happens an none of the opponents playing me are in a team - they are all single players. I am playing solo too. I suspect whatever feeble attempts to jiggle that or tweak this is now moot because the terrible connection quality and no Regional Dedicated Host Servers insure each and every game is a laggy crap fest that no one wants to play anymore. Every other major AAA title has Regional Dedicated Host Servers instead of being hosted by a Single Console and praying their upload rate is fast enough to handle the 5 + MBps upload. My own connection is 27 Mbps down, 7 Mbps up and 23 ms ping time to MS Servers. Always Green bar.

              More green bars in games, but the lag is the same. Players rubber band around and there's no consistency. Games are just as sweaty. I'm only put up against the elite of the game, every single game I play. I guess that's my penalty for having a 1.9kd Well,at least I had one until SBMM was introduced and now I'm a 1.5 Protecting noobs while hurting your hardcore base is not the right approach. If I'm better than 98% of players, that should be reflected in who I play against. I shouldn't only play the top 2% every time I queue up. You guys really have to make it region/connection only. There's no need for SBMM. Just make sure teams are balanced. Every team should reflect the population. Some skilled, some average, some bad. I can't even play PvP anymore unless I want a 0.7 kd every game. I can't compete against the top 2% all the time, with these awful connections and solo. How is that fun for me? Can you explain how playing every game like I'm Halo rank 50 is fun?

                • My games have gotten harder. With sbmm I ran into more skilled snipers, now I run into a ton of mindless shotgunners that run all over the map, it's annoying for me when I rewatch my footage to critique it and I feel like some of my deaths weren't really avoidable
