EDIT: I removed the link to the original Facebook post because it was not being read properly for some reason... Does anyone else feel like Osiris is now a Pay-to-Win tournament? I remember back in Year 1, Osiris is all anyone ever did. It was randomly based matches, allowing basically anyone to go flawless and just enjoy a fun and easy way to get good gear. I can't express how many great memories were made just screwing around in Trials, competitively and for fun. Then Year 2 rolled around, and they introduced skill-based matchmaking. At first, everyone (including myself) thought that this was a well-balanced change to Osiris. Logically, it made sense. The more wins you get, the harder Trials becomes. But this system has been taken advantage of, brutally so. I won't go so far as to say that Osiris is unplayable. Sure, you got the bounties, which give you some pretty good drops. Hell, you might get lucky and go flawless once or twice. But overall, Trials has just turned into a massive advertisement for streamers and Youtubers. Consistently, the posts on LFG are mostly a combination of streamers offering $40-$80 carries and average players begging for a free carry, along with the occasional hardcore Destiny player requiring perfect K/Ds and ELOs (which, as a sidenote, are next to impossible to change after years of playing for fun without much thought for stats). This leaves all the average Destiny players (those that don't play the game for a living and aren't willing to fork over cash for in-game content) scrounging for a way to ever visit that all-elusive Lighthouse. It's quite disgusting that what was once a fun and relatively open-to-all Crucible mode has become so unfair for the average player. Of course, it should pay to be skilled. The Lighthouse shouldn't be open to every Guardian with 500 Glimmer and some Passage Coins. But that doesn't mean it should be complete hell for any non-streamer wanting to visit the Lighthouse once in their life. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a pity party for me. I still have good Osiris runs every now and then, and I've gone flawless roughly 7 times throughout Year 1 and Year 2. But for the average player, whether it be a father with a job outside of Destiny lacking the time to play the game 24/7, or the schoolkid trying to stay on top of his/her grades while still trying to get a few wins in the game they love, Trials is just unfair for them. And, frankly, that group makes up a large portion of Destiny players. Turning Osiris back to what it used to be, randomly-based matchmaking, would put players on more of an even field, where Guardians aren't forced to pay streamers or play for days on end to have a chance at going Flawless. It'll still be good for streamers, allowing for more sporadic and spontaneous Trials runs, as well as attracting a larger audience because of its friendlier nature. Anyone else with me on this? I honestly want to petition this to Bungie somehow. EDIT #1: Note I'm not trying to convince the Community on this, one way or the other. I'm just trying to get feedback and all opinions are totally welcomed. EDIT #2: I'm gonna post this on their forums, I think... I'm not sure how though. EDIT #3: It ought to be noted that in Year 2, over 1 million players played more than 50 Trials matches. In Year 3, less than 600,000 players played more than 50 matches. That speaks volume in the community's lessening interest in this system for Trials of Osiris.

  • How about we just stop Trials as an Elimination type game mode and change it to Skirmish, best of 3 1000 point rounds. 7 games gets you to the Lighthouse, only 1 boon is available and that's the Mercy.

    • Honestly, this a community problem that needs to be remedied by the community. Since Bungie can't really do anything about it and it's the people's fault for giving streamers/account recoverers their money to go flawless. I feel the best choice of action is just to try to discourage the use of paid carries. Since this is more a "don't give them your money problem." Than a Bungie do something about them problem."

      • Played trials earlier after avoiding it for a few months, just joined some random fireteam at the reef and we jumped into a few matches. First couple of matches we won and I managed to save a round, but then as usual the next match we are spawn-sniped so fast the match was over in less than a minute. I always wonder how they know exactly where we are standing when we spawn into the map that they can just turn, pull the trigger and get a headshot every round? It's like they have a couple seconds head start to get set up. I also have never seen a trials match where teams of top tier players are pitted against each other, all these youtube videos but not one where there's a match like that. Makes me wonder why not?

        • Very few streamers charge for carries ... Trials should have ALWAYS been matched by wins in card (as close as possible) rather than have a team who was on 8 wins go against a team on 2 wins

        • I preferred not knowing if I was going against a group from the lfg and stomping them or go against a pre made group and have to fight tooth and nail for the win.

Random match making would completely ruin the game type, for those that want a challenge it wouldn't work. I don't want to play teams with 1200 elos and negative kds more than I need to, I hate the first few games as it is now, the lack of competition in the first few games makes it boring. I didn't play trials in year 1 but from what my mates tell me it's was far too easy. I think it would cause more problems than it would solve. While I'll welcome an easy win from time to time, a system with random match making could mean playing 7/8/9 games like that.
