This is a meme that has been making its way around pop culture for a while now which I fully disagree with.
You should have a basic respect for all people, but definitely not all their opinions. The only opinions that matter are ones based in facts and evidence.

8 RepliesThe conflict arises when people mistake beliefs for opinions. You should respect someone's opinion, ie. "Blue is a fantastic color". You do not have to respect someone's belief, ie. "I believe all dogs deserve to die". It's a fine line to walk between them, but the distinction is important because otherwise people will begin to treat opinions as beliefs or beliefs as opinions, which inevitably leads to fruitless arguments that inherently can't reconcile because they are using differing definitions.
