Let me just leave this here, because the comments from some people are. . .interesting.
I don't understand the stigma towards animation. Sure, there is oversexualization in some Japanese animations. But there are some with Hollywood level production values, plot, and characters. It's a genre. It's an art form. Why don't we look at animation from an artistic standpoint? Do you understand the work and money it takes to make an animation? Do you have the talent to do any of the things that animation studios do? You don't have to like it. Others do. It's a genre that has much more artistic freedom than other mediums. I'll never understand the,"Uh, all anime is for kids or it's for weebs," comments. Uh, no. A lot of people, young and old, like Hayao Miyazaki films. It's a major industry in Japan and the "cartoons" are for adults too. Animation isn't just "cancer" or "cringe". It's an art style. A way of expression. So, before you go bashing it for no reason because it's "cringe" why don't you respect the artists for doing something they love? Is it really that damaging to your being that you have to post such negative things?
What about Avatar the Last Airbender? That's arguably the greatest American cartoon ever and it has a Japanese style of animation. What about Teen Titans? So, just don't go bashing something for no reason. Of course you have every right too, but come on.
Sincerely,
A Filthy Weeb
(Not really a weeb because I'm not invested in Japanese culture. I just like watching animation from time to time. It would be nice if people that used the term actually knew what it meant.)
Sure, there is oversexualization in some Japanese animations.
"some" Stop lying to yourself kid. And it isn't even that! there is A LOT of over sexualization of CHILDREN/TEENS. Example: Neon genesis evangelion and Sword art online. Keep your pedo shit in 4chan.

Those are arguably the two worst examples of anime you can think of
then again, I watched love live, so I really don't have a leg to stand on
-
You are right, you don't have a leg to stand on especially for NGE. since that shit is ground zero for the whole tsundere yandere crap.
-
Wait what? I said that NGE and SAO sucked...

Using Avatar and Teen Titans just sealed your fate... Bad choice. Both use irreverent humor and basic writing. Not to mention both being written from the "teenage hero" perspective. These shows are why people in America think all anime is garbage. I personally despise anime because it's all the same. You can diagnose a character's disposition within seconds on the screen. Not to mention the necessity of having the "overly cute and odd" little thing following the group or whoever around. Used primarily for dumb humor. It's too easy to digest, horribly uncomplicated, and entirely not thought provoking.
These shows are why people in America think all anime is garbage.
Uh, no. Americans think all anime is garbage because they are brainwashed do think so by society. You grow up watching cartoons and then when you reach a certain age, society says, "oh, aren't you too old to be watching cartoons."
I personally despise anime because it's all the same. You can diagnose a character's disposition within seconds on the screen.
If you despise it so much you have probably not watched a lot. Or any good ones at that. There are definitely anime tropes that show up in a lot. But that is the same with every artistic medium. Ever watch a Marvel film? I love them, but it is virtually the same thing every movie with different characters.
Not to mention the necessity of having the "overly cute and odd" little thing following the group or whoever around. Used primarily for dumb humor.
Again, you clearly haven't watched a lot of animation if the only ones you've seen have a "cute character". Wow, very similar to the generic comic relief character in nearly every movie.
It's too easy to digest, horribly uncomplicated, and entirely not thought provoking.
Wow, like most entertainment. Do you even go to the movies? Yes, the new Ghostbusters was very thought-provoking. Yes, Star Wars the Force Awakens was very thought-provoking. Lol. You just seem to hate it because, like I said, you have been brainwashed by society to think so.

Uhh buddy I also despise all of the media you compared it to. Nice job.

Edited by LxGhostSniperxL: 11/26/2016 10:07:28 PMWell, good for you. It must be a boring life if you can't enjoy mindless drivel sometimes and you have to nitpick every piece of media that comes your way. You must be a fun person to see a movie or watch a show with.
-
Actually I have really good taste in media. I suppose it would frustrate the simple minded to watch something with me.
-
How hipster and opinionated of you. No one person has a good taste in movies as a taste in movies is an opinion.
-
No it's a matter of intelligence.
-
Sure it is. . .
