You don't think that the country should be governed of the people, by the people, and for the people?
English
-
"by the people" This country would be corrupt. We need officials to make laws and officials to enforce those laws.
-
We do because we get to choose who is part of the electoral college. We choose them and they choose the president. By the transitive property, we choose the president.
-
How is picking the president ruling the country? We don't make laws, we don't group up in the middle of a town and raise our hands to see if a bill is passed.

I did a little bit of research after your post. We, in a way, do get to choose them through the popular vote in each state. Admittedly, this is not how I thought we went about it, but I wasn't completely wrong.

Cuz mob rule sucks. That's why electoral college...
-
Yes because we don't already use the public vote for senators and congressmen.
-
For all people. There is a reason the US is a representative republic, not a democracy.
-
Actually, it's a democratic republic
-
Actually, it's a constitutional republic who elects representatives to make decisions for us.
-
The reason is that the average voter is retarded. However, they should still have a say in the election. Electoral votes should, if they're going to exist, be given proportionally.
-
I don't really agree with your phrasing, and usually they are.
