bungie made it very clear in one of their weekly posts that its not BLOOM
if it were bloom you would have perfect accuracy after you hold still for a few sec.
they clearly said it was just accuracy.
and more range somehow equals more accuracy.
and it obviously gives more range.
and more aim assist.
is shouldn't be called range but RangeNG

Edited by RAIST5150: 11/18/2016 12:59:01 AMTechnically, they are correct in that it is the accuracy factor causing the shots to miss (from the calculation standpoint). What they left out though is that bloom is causing the final accuracy stat (the one actually used in determining the outcome) to fly out into left field. The main thing we are doing by increasing the range stat is pushing the stronger points for bloom to be heaviest further downrange from where it is in relation to the weapon's base range stat. Doesn't mean it is removing it, simply reducing it's impact at the closer ranges so the weapons become more effective within the range we are trying to use them. It is a geometric kind of thing. It is often described using a cone of accuracy demonstration. The cone stretches as the range extends, so you have a much narrower circle at 20 meters with a range stat of 60 than you do with a range stat of 25--a longer cone, with the same sized base circle at the end. Imagine bloom making that base expand out at a crazy rate when it kicks in....but with the longer range stat it has less impact at that same 20 meter mark, because you have a much sharper angle of expansion in play. Percentage wise, it may still be the same---but when the grouping is much tighter to begin with, it makes it much less severe at the same range to your target. Anywho.... the initial accuracy variance on HC's is pretty rough to start with. We really don't need the over-inflated bloom augmenting it to astronomical values like it is doing now. They could and should have just adjusted the stats of the weapons directly like they do all the time. A player can adjust to compensate for an unwieldy weapon if they work hard enough at it---but no amount of training/skill can overcome RNGesus.

They're lying.
-
I don't doubt that they lied about it... My only question is why lie about it?
-
They've lied about a lot.
-
I know, I just don't see the purpose behind lying about a game mechanic... To lessen their work load perhaps?
-
Maybe???

Edited by autimsoid: 11/17/2016 11:03:59 PMConsidering that they were willing to cover up "we're lazy -blam!-s and don't want to put time into those" by saying "we want your guardian to feel the same everywhere" I honestly don't doubt they'd lie to lighten the work load
