No matter which matchmaking settings bungie chooses to prioritize, there will always be people who complain. Which is why I have always proposed and will continue to propose this solution: It's not impossible to have both sbmm and cbmm... Just like how we get normal and hard modes for missions and strikes, just give players the option to choose which matchmaking settings they want to use for each crucible game mode... It's a super simple solution too. e.g. When you click on control in the navigator, just click the square and select "casual" mode (green) for cbmm or "competitive" mode (orange) for sbmm.
I left a poll open so you guys could give your feedback. I'd like you to also throw out some of your ideas too. I hope this helps the community and I hope bungie notices this poll. I heard they wanted us to give our feedback with good reasoning. So I ask you to do the same in the comments! If you liked this poll and wouldn't mind, please give it a like or comment to keep it relevant so that it has the best chances of reaching bungie! Thank you bungie, deep and cozmo, and thank you guardians. You're all awesome and contribute to one of the best gaming communities around! Have a good day guardians!
Edit 1: somebody asked "what about trials and the dailies?" and I realized that I forgot to mention those. Good question guardian! For trials I recommend that SBMM stay in place (the way it is now) and be the only type of matchmaking setting for this game mode. I know this might upset some people but trials is one of the only major competitive game modes we have in destiny. I think trials should be the only game mode that is solely sbmm, otherwise getting flawless would be super easy and the reward of reaching the lighthouse and getting all that sweet , precious loot wouldn't be as rewarding. Regarding the dailies, I think it would be fair to be able to choose between sbmm and cbmm for whatever crucible mode the daily is for that day.
