Obama's presidency was one of the best we've had in a long time. I don't know why you're implying it wasn't. Bush started the unwinnable war against terror that led to the formation of ISIS. That war snowballed the debt to the point it is now. Those are two Bush administration screw-ups attributed directly to Obama.
Now let's look at the one real issue people have with Obama: Obamacare. The act itself actually did a lot for people that you probably didn't notice as I'm guessing you don't have any major medical issues and are straight. One major aspect of the act was to prevent insurance companies from refusing insurance to those with pre-existing conditions. This means if someone isn't on insurance and then finds out they have cancer, the insurance company can't just tell them "no" to get out of having to pay money for their treatment. Another thing it did was allow gay individuals the ability to add their partners to their insurance. Surprisingly, it wasn't allowed under the previous system. Then, it allowed individuals up to the age of 26 to remain under their parents' insurance if they were in school or still lived at home. That one is a double-edged sword. It allows kids to go to college without having to worry about even more costs on top of college. But then burnouts living in their parents' basement are able to just abuse the system. Sure, there are issues with Obamacare. But repealing it doesn't fix the problems that existed previously of which there were just as many.

Edited by Ricochet 049: 11/11/2016 5:13:48 AMYet Obamacare is far from perfect. And when it's problems hurt people and it has, it suddenly "racist" to not want it. And Obama has done some less than okay things. Fast and furious gun s candle is just one example. Not all criticism is unjust. A lot of it is of course, but the dislike for Obama isn't baseless or without logical reason. This isn't a direct disagreement or meant in a hostile way, (text always comes off as hostile). Just an observation that gets over looked by the rage from both sides.

See, I don't see it as racist to not want it (besides the obvious racist comments following not wanting Obamacare which isn't everyone). The problem comes from wanting to go back to a system that was just as broken instead of admitting anything needs to be fixed, which is true for Obamacare. I do believe universal healthcare is something the US does need, but done properly. The reason most people notice Obamacare issues over previous issues is that Obamacare is affecting people the previous system didn't. But I will never say he wasn't a better president than Bush. And with Trump, we can really go either way. Trump has stated plans that I both agree and heavily disagree with. I'd say the same for Clinton. This was honestly a shit-show of an election season altogether.

A universal healthcare system isn't a bad idea if done right. Punishing people for not signing up for it is. Obamacare was used as a political weapon, and lost sight of its purpose. (Not replying in disagreement or correcting, just adding to what was already said)

The mandatory clause I'm actually unsure on. That was either an Obama muck up or Congress adding in a little something to push more of that anti-Obama sentiment. We can't forget Congress tried really hard to mess with Obama instead of doing anything to make the country better.

Republicans added that part

True. And I admit I don't agree with his actions, but he isn't the only one to blame.
-
Yeah, it's ridiculous Obama himself had to force through a change to filibustering due to the incredible childishness of Congress under his administration. I'll just be disappointed if this new Congress works smoothly with a few of Trump's proposed changes. Namely the reversal on green initiatives and the "stand-your-ground" laws he seems to want to push.
-
We will see. I'm not a fan of trump but I can hope that some good will come of this.
-
He did propose a Congressional term limit. Something I've actually been an advocate for for a long time. So there's at least one thing xD
-
Yeah. And now the left and the right seem to agree on something.

I actually used to be into some of his policies before he became a caricature of the Republican party. He used to talk about clearing up prisons by setting up rehabilitation for the less hardened criminals. Or working to help out illegals that are working here by helping get them into the system somewhat to funnel their income back into our economy. Like completely sane and rational ideas before the election turned into The Real Presidential Candidates of America.
