It's hard to say that those at bungie don't listen. I can remember a multitude of times I calmly laid out a problem and it was silently fixed. Now it's hard to ignore the cries from such a large group of people, but the mob mentality is a tad dehumanizing not only to those it affects but also to the real "issue". It's so easy to blame crucible balance on "bungie" for nerfs and buffs, but to say that the balance is the fault of the community is a harder alternative. Weapons take time to master and they reward those who learn them. People are so keen to look at numbers they neglect the time to learn a weapon. Close range engagements favor fast times to kill and the majority of the popular weapons are high rate of fire and thus meant for hectic engagements. It's almost a mental power creep so to speak. Of course shotguns will win at most close range engagements, they are very consistent. Now I don't use shotguns, -strangely enough I still use juggernaut, but I also did in HoW- I do face a considerable amount of them. In fact I went into the last iron banner with a scout rifle and side arm and quite enjoyed myself. There was an obvious learning curve, but I realized I was poor at picking engagements and adjusted. Im drawing out this story, but I think the point I want to make is that anything is useable/competitive currently it's simply a mentality that only one playstlyle is viable, when in fact it is easily countered, by any other playstlyle (which is why a nlb can get 1-3% of trials kills)
on a side note it's quite hilarious when a shotgunner messes up their slide. They look like confused turtles.
