WotM and the cancer of the community

Soooo, I tried the raid for the first time today. I'm 386 light, competent, and just have fun playing. I joined a group that was doing a normal raid and getting monitors. ( Figured I'd get the raid exotic... cause why not right?) Upon joining, they were at the first boss. The leader asked if anyone had not done the raid. I of course said, "no, but i pick things up quickly... give me the basics." Immediately another guardian started complaining, the leader stood up for me and said "give him a chance." I was grateful. I had NO issues in any of the encounters, until the final boss. It did take me one try to get the picture with Aksis, but then I figure it out. To make a long story short (sorry I know that was a lot already) the elitist prick that wanted me kicked from the get go, continuously screwed up and then had the nerve to blame others. People started quitting because of him and we never finished the raid. So my question is, why are people just so rude and... for a lack of a better word...just so douchey? Just be civil man. It's just a game. I got to 386 without ever doing the raid, and I don't think I'll ever do it again. Edit: Appreciate the supportive responses so far
