While I was on a random patrol on Mars a fellow guardian messaged me and asked if I'd join his raid team for WOTM. I told him I never played it and he didn't mind and taught me the mechanics on the fly. We completed the end boss and it truly wasn't difficult. We need more players like that in the community.

Edited by HollowPoint XB: 10/30/2016 10:14:59 PMI've done my share of trying to help noobs through raids only to realise that the majority just wanted to be carried. Unfortunately There are a lot of lazy guardians out there. I did the raid with a friend and 4 randoms from lfg blind, no forums or streamers tips, nothing. Was so satisfying figuring it out by ourselves. The best advice I can give anyone who's a solo player is to join https://www.the100.io The site puts you in with 100 other guardians. Lots of Sherpa runs and people doing full noob runs. It helped me so much in year one and I still recommend it today. If you get kicked from groups simply form your own. It's not difficult to do and at least you'll get the experience.

Edited by Razzupaltuff: 10/30/2016 1:19:49 PMMaybe we need more raid newbies like you in this community ... Inspired by your post, I tried to help a few newbie players through the raid during the last two days. It was a sobering experience. Most of the people who haven't been able to complete the raid yet are hopeless cases, for one or the other reason. There were promising players with horrible internet, but these were the exception. Most of the players were neither able to learn from others' experience (by having the mechanics explained to them and understanding what they were being told), nor from their own experience (by doing it and observing what was going on and what was working and what wasn't). I brought some patience with me, but after a while I had to admit to myself that some of the people I was trying to help wouldn't get anywhere with the raid anytime soon. So I am back to playing with people who have proof they can beat the raid (emblem), sorry. I am just no teenager any more with endless amounts of time and energy for this, and I also think there are better ways to really help people (irl) with what time I have to do that. I would still be willing to help newbies through the raid provided they can listen and understand what they hear and can execute a well structured approach to the raid. Whoever feels he fits that description and sees me online can message me for a raid. You should just have 370+ light, a working microphone (no Kinect) and enough time.

Damn, id like to meet this guy, i have a 389 hunter, 387 titan and 386 warlock but have never played the raid, any raid actually as i play solo, ive tried joining fireteams from forums, and although my light levels are more than high enough, the second i say "i have no experience raiding" im kicked, i found people to be to needy on forums, MUST be 390+ light, MUST have certain weapons, MUST have emblem, MUST have run it atleast once and be experianced etc, which unfortunatley leaves us solo players trailing behind,

When you're 370 and everyone else is 390 so they avoid you like the plague on lfg.
Feels bad man
-
You mean more "normal" people, we don't need as many of them in Destiny as we do in general life.
-
I agree. I used to just sit in the tower accepting messages from people who wanted to do VoG or Crota.

Who runs patrol on Mars... Nobody

I completed the raid at 360 but that wouldnt be possible with out the group I found. I was searching for people when I found a group of 385+ and to myself I was like, Oh god Im gonna get kicked, but to my surprise they helped me understand the mechanics of the raid and we eventualy conpleted it. I hope there are more people like this, I just love seeing higher light levels help out the lower ones.

Edited by Spicy_GZ: 10/29/2016 11:04:54 PMI feel the pain of many other guardians on here. I used to have a consistent group to raid with now I find myself with a 390 hunter, and haven't completed the normal raid yet. Edit: Would love to add some new folks to my friends list, also anyone willing to help. PSN: spiceman1981

Edited by RevenantsShadow: 10/28/2016 8:09:12 PMI seriously need to do stuff with other humans. I've always been a Lone Wolf when it comes to video games, but in Destiny you need all the help you can get. I still have to do the VoG and Crota's End Edit: I appreciate all the help you guys are offering, but almost everyone uses a PS4 I'm on Xbox One if anyone feels like doing anything later. Im a 38 year old guardian and usually lfg the raids. Always have. Usually find really good groups too. I was trying to finish aksis with all monitors the other night. Went thru about 3-4 groups that couldnt do it. Found a group looking for one person and joined. Well i swear every person in this group was probably no older then 12 years old. Lol. I thought to myself, oh hell, here we go. Well pleasantly to my surprise these kids were really good. They were so excited. They were calling out everything. I couldnt believe it. I think 2 runs and we beat the boss and let me tell u these guys were beside themselves. So excited! It totally reminded me of my first VOG run. It was really refreshing and reminded me again why i absolutely love this game! Carry on guardians

I remember back in vanilla I would sometimes go patrol Venus and wait at the VoG start point to help out raid teams that had to get through the door. It was a challenge for a lot of teams so having a 7th player really helped out a lot.

This happened to me earlier this week. For a Playstation refugee going to Xbox One with the storm brewing on the other side of the fence, it was amazing and surprising. To be honest, at this point I'm comfortable enough with the Normal raid that I'm willing to pay it forward myself to people who need/want to do the raid.

Honestly, I feel like at least 80% community is like this and it's great. I remember the first people who took me through King's Fall and they were really cool and explained it to the group. The Destiny community isn't really as toxic as some make it out to be.

And here I am sitting at 400 and still have not done hard mode wotm. :/ oh well maybe one day
-
I like helping people through quests raids etc. Find it more rewarding helping others than I do doing it myself.

I popped into archons forge and there was already 2 guys in there. Slowly, more and more people kept joining our forge, and we got up to 8 people, all grinding out the forge, we did this for about an hour. No matter the offering level (fused, enhanced, and even perfected), the splicers could not defeat us and this led me to my first saladins vigil. Shout out to these guys for making destiny fun haha.
-
One of my friends helps people and asked if I wanted to help. We took at least 5 people through hard mode about a week ago. But he helps a lot more often. It's nice that we get something out of WoTM for helping people when we've already completed it now.
One of the people we took through both normal and hard was in a wheelchair and was kind of slow, he was messing with his cat a lot during the raids lol. But it was fun.
Maybe this community has hope after all
-
Two teams of 3 spawned in to the Sepiks Perfected strike to find a Warsat falling. By some miracle, all of us decided to stay to protect the Warsat, leading to 6 guardians obliterating the Splicers around us. Never had so much fun or seen so many people on one public event.

Congrats on your victory. Im yet to finish hm kf raid. WOTM tried multiple times but 2nd boss battle stage co-ordination doesn't pan out. I won't lfg, 101 site, etc. Run with clan when available only. Funny thing, im running LL400 warlock no with no raid completion. Almost got my hunter to same status once i source the chest piece engram.
-
GG hope more people like that are needed.
Also, what light level should I be before I attempt WoTM?
-
When I have nothing to do, I help people with Kings Fall and WoTM. Which that's usually Wednesday to Saturday.
-
I need to meet people like that. I'm an experienced destiny player but people don't want to be patient with me for WOTM
-
Me and my few friends that play have found it really hard to find other players for the raids and honestly get pretty frustrated about the whole thing. Found a guy through the forums who disnt mind our lack of experience and was happy to help run us through. Didn't get it done but it was a great experience having someone like that in this community.
