I realized this while talking with another user. Science is like a corpse. It is dead. At least cancer changes and grows. Science doesn't even do that. It's unchanging laws keep it stiff and unmoving. The claim that science constantly challenges old theories is just an illusion of change: like the undertaker switching the suit that the corpse is wearing. It is fake change, because science never questions the structure of its own method.
Planar Theory (Flat Earth Theory) is rooted in the mind. It works through the senses. It builds its knowledge of reality from what can be plainly understood. It constantly doubts itself, as it knows that the senses can sometimes be mistaken. But far from being a weakness, this is its primary strength: knowledge stems from what is known. While Planar Theory is quite confident that the sun will rise tomorrow, if the sun should cease to rise, it will rework its conception of reality to fit with what is seen. Meanwhile, science will confidently wear sunglasses in the dark. And society will continue to buy sunscreen, believing to live in the light while actually in darkness.

Edited by Sainyule: 10/28/2016 3:32:40 AMPeople? I said you were like cancer once, geez if you want my attention don't throw some shade at me in a thread title.

Except science is always changing... please do research before you say that. Flat earth theory doesn't by the looks of it. You always use the same theories to try and explain flat earth
-
Something something the earth is flat.
-
So you're saying we shouldn't buy sunscreen?
-
But science can never die, unless people stop speaking English
-
your title kinda proves cancer; a corpse by definition is a dead body. so no there are no living corpses; the already dead portion of title is not needed as the word corpse implies that fact itself.

Mate, science has been around roughly seven centuries by this point. That's seven centuries of questioning their own methods. Seven centuries of writing and rewriting the same theories and ideas. Seven centuries of debating facts and evidence. There's only so many questions, rewrites and debates you can have in seven centuries. Of course no massive questions have been asked, no major rewrites done and no colossal debates had in recent years; it's already happened. Science isn't a corpse ready to be resuited and buried. Rather, it's a letter to the universe filled with guesses backed up by evidence. Major discoveries like Albert Einstein's theory of relativity and Charles Darwin's natural selection were rewrites to this letter, whilst recent, smaller discoveries like mapping the epigenome and the discovery of the ninth planet in our solar system are either footnotes or spellchecks on this letter.
-
Well, science works. Its theories are used to make advances in technology. Not sure what flat earthers have given us... Other than a shortage of tin foil.
-
Huh, never would have guessed a corpse might have already died.
-
You are entertaining. I read your post for the entertainment. Keep it up. The post you make can be a record for you in case you ever go on a homicidal rage, simply say the insanity plea.
-
Agreed, we get scientist that challenge science but just not enough

Science is like poetry
and most people h8 poetry

...a casual loop in this toggler's mechanism suggests that the toggling process somehow binds space and time into...
Technically, Flat Earth Theory is more like a zombie, whereby it was dead and buried, but then some weird movie-plot shit happens, causing the zombie to rise from its grave with the intent of infecting everything around it. But it should be no surprise that the zombie horde can only grow in size, but never in intelligence.
Jokes aside, I do get your overall point, where people shouldn't just blindly accept everything they hear, even if it comes from "science". But the wonderful thing about being a scientist (marine/atmospheric, but mostly marine lol) is that for all of the experiments I conduct, I write some sort of path (methodology), so that any potential skeptic could one day go and recreate my experiments with the intent of seeing whether or not I was right, or use my methods to build onto their own experiments that maybe looks at something I might have missed.
What if I call you AIDS? Will you make a post on how people compare you to AIDS? That's a serious question too please answer honestly.

So. Its mind science?

Do you even know what science is? It does question its own foundation. It's foundation is facts. It constantly questions the facts. Get off your flat earth shrooms m8!
