I think it's a perfect example of what happens when the people we elect to represent us spend all their time bickering and opposing absolutely everything each other proposes rather than doing what we elect them to do... work with each other. The ACA is a failure. The only good thing that came from it was the preexisting conditions clause and to some degree, most people's over all coverage has improved. Which is amazing and way too long overdue, no doubt. But that's it. Our options for doctors have shrunk. Our rates are about to skyrocket. And a lot of people like me are already paying as much for healthcare as we do for our -blam!-ing mortgage! But what absolutely infuriates me about it all is watching all the democrats desperately try to defend it, and all the republicans with their nose in the air going "don't blame us, we didn't vote for it!". When that's exactly the -blam!-ing problem! Not a single one of these idiots on either side did their jobs in compromising enough to come up with something that actually works. None of them. I swear to god if any of us "regular folk" were as bad at our jobs as our elected officials are.. we all would have been fired a long, long time ago. Unfortunately the rest of us haven't found a way to get our boss' to defend our every action the way voters have been brainwashed into doing for their political party. Pardon the rant but this subject really triggers me.

It's stupid. Should have been a single payer system from the beginning. This is madness driven by ideology, stupidity, and greed. For Christ's sake you have a bordering country that resembles America like no other on Earth that has a vastly cheaper two tiered private/public health care system you can copy.

      • 2 posts already blaming "obamacare" but the truth is the US has had the highest premiums, and rising ones, well before obamacare. I watched a very interesting documentary that looked at healthcare systems in different countries, some universal some almost completely competitive, some with a combo. And ive got some bad news... every system they looked at had serious problems with it. There seems to not really be a solutions

They pushed through a stripped version just to make it pass and have a legacy... risky move that depended on who gets this next presidency and how the senate goes. Some might not like having to be penalized for not having health insurance. On the plus side insurance are less likely to pull that "pre-existing condition" bullshit to scam their customers in a life threatening situation. Ever seen sicko? You would know what im talking about. Also im sure it was inevitable to go up anyways over time. Its newly implemented in america of course there will be growing and edit pains that is just how things work. Of course some will use it as ammunition when there are other countries that have good models for evidence. Ive been seeing a trend however of those types of debaters ignoring what other countries do successfully because it cant work here (or really goes against their philosophy and choose to wall it out)

        • You wanna know how to make something more expensive with out adding any new value to it? More government regulations. How anyone thought adding more governmental burden on to the health care industry was going to save money is beyond retarded.

          • It's easy to explain you don't create cheaper medicine without competition and Obama care creates monopoly in the ensurance companies more so than before. Deregulate it and let the market control medicine

"So it probably should not be a surprise to learn that last month a survey by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York found that 20.9% of manufacturing firms in the state said they were employing fewer workers because of Obamacare, while 16.8% of respondents in the service sector said the same." Another poor outcome from the ACA... again, predicated by opponents.
