2016 World Series facts
The last time the Cubs went to the World Series (1945, lost to the Detroit Tigers ) neither color TVs nor colored MLB players existed. Jackie Robinson didn't play in the MLB until two years later.
Since the Cubs last won the World Series title (1908), Arizona became a US state, acquired a MLB team (Diamondbacks), and they won their own World Series title (2001).
The 2016 World Series features 176 years of title drought (108 years for Cubs, 68 years for Indians). It's the longest in MLB history (2005 = 129 years and 2004 = 106 years).
The last time the Cubs won the World Series, the Ottoman Empire was still a thing.

As much as I wanted the dodgers to win.. I'll take the cubs I guess. It'd be nice to see them win after so long.

The last time the Cubs won, there were no World Wars. The last time the Cubs won, the Wild West was still technically a thing. The last time the Cubs won, slavery was still technically a thing (in pretty sure sharecropping was still a thing in 1908, sharecropping is extremely similar to slavery). The last time the Cubs won, the KKK was still relevant. Schools were still largely segregated. Russia and Germany were still ruled by kings. Television wasn't mainstream. Telegrams were still relevant. Cars weren't mainstream. Good lord... the Cubs need to win this.
