I've always wondered how anyone came to the conclusion that it's a Halo reference. None of the pods say 117. No mention of fighting an alien race.
All we're told is it's a Guardian of immense Light that Ghost tried to awaken back in the day, but the Guardian requested he remain in stasis, because he was in a large battle/war that could last a lifetime.
No reference or allusion to Halo.
How did people get to the conclusion that it was Halo?

Did you ever play halo 3? The situation there is very similar to the ending of halo 3.
-
Its based off the similarities in circumstance... Cortana wanted to wake the chief, chief just wanted to sleep off the war hangover. Both are in decrepit ships destroyed in an epic moment. Honestly, anybody who says it is halo *for sure* is full of shit, but there are interesting similarities that make it not entirely unlikely.
-
Because Master Chief was put under cryostasis in a pod isolated in deep space for a long time, and no one except Cortana knew where he was, nor if he was alive.
-
And? How does that pertain to this Guardian? Is this entire "easter egg" just literally based off "Master Chief went into stasis. This Guardian is in stasis. Reference confirmed."? Like, holy hell. That is such a far -blam!-ing long shot right there. I just... wow. "Both games said stasis, so it must be a reference". Wow.
-
Did you consider that both Halo and Destiny were made by Bungie?
-
Still doesn't mean it's a reference. There's literally ZERO evidence that suggests this, other than "duhhhh, they both said stasis".
-
Well why would they just randomly stick in a Guardian of unknown identity in stasis within the game without it being a reference or something along those lines?
-
Why would they make a shit ton of things scan-able in TTK? Was that Cabal ship in the beginning a reference? The Taken portal you scan also a reference? I mean, why would they put that in right? It all must be references to something. Must definitely be Halo. They put in scan-able objects, because people wanted more lore. People wanted more things in-game that tell the/a story. So they added Ghost scans. Just because we were able to scan a pod, doesn't mean it's a Halo reference; especially if we are able to scan dozens of other things in the game. Was Nokris a reference to Halo too? We could scan that.
-
Nokris could easily be a foreshadow to future events in Destiny 2. But still, no one except you for some reason can deny that the Guardian in the pod is most likely a Halo reference.
-
And one small reference is out of the realm of possibility?
