Sunsinger is broken. This is obvious.
I use to main sunsinger in PvP, even after their first major nerf. After the last round of nerfs i stopped using it altogether, and i realized the other day that virtuallu No One uses it anymore.
The strength of sunsinger originally was the nuetral game. The grenades and melees were the best of any subclass, and you had perks to maximize that advantage.
This was intentional. Warlocks have the lowest armor and agility of all classes making them less effective in firefights. So, they had better grenades and melee perks to balance them out with other classes.
Sunsinger in my opinion originally had the best grenades, melees, and supporting perks of all subclasses. This was necessary because other than weak armor amd agility, Sunsingers have the weakest and least usefull super in the game. Especially in PvP.
Now sunsingers have the worst super, the weakest armor, avg melees, and no good perks to boost them.
Here is some simple ideas to fix sunsingers.
1. Give us our melee back how it was originally. Yes it was a great melee, but we needed it. Its overshield was the Only thing that gave our super any killing power. With the delay in shield activation and the fact that selecting it makes your melee charge super slow makes it completely uncompetitive. Melees and grenades are the only thing that balances out sunsingers. They Should be a little OP compared to other subclasses. You dont have to give us the +1 armor buff, but it needs to charge normally and activate immediately on hit.
2. Restore viking funeral. Without a good viking funeral you may as well just delete that whole perk tree. Our choices now: Make the weakest super im the game last a few seconds longer, bonus damage on ignited enemies, or generate an orb.
The bonus dmg on ignited enemies is ineffective because to ignite an enemy you either have to melee them or hit them with a grenade (while using another perk to allow your grenades to ignit them). So you either have to get right up on someone who is faster, stronger and has a faster melee. Or you have to use a 2nd perk and grenade them just to get a little bonus dmg. If you grenade someone and they dont get behind a corner to hide, then unless youre bad you would have killed them anyways.
Viking funeral gave us the ability to kill classes with stronger armor with a melee, after only getting a few good shots on them. Or with the use of a 2nd perk. If you threw a very good grenade, you could kill a low armor build at a distance. You had to be good to get the kill and if they had a high armor build they would survive. The tracking on firebolt grenades was nerfed. Thats fine..it should take skill to get that kill, but we Need the ablility to get that kill to balance out our subclass. And without viking funeral and the perk to ingite on gremade hits, firebolt grenades are pathetic.
Thats really it. Give us our good melee and viking funeral back how they were before the nerfs. If you really want, reduce the tracking range on firebolts a little more. Maybe add a minus recovery effect for selecting viking funeral.
Those 2 things would make sunsinger competitive again. Get it done because im really bored with voidwalkers. Voidwalker just isnt as fun as sunsinger was, and i dont like titan grenades and melees.
I havnt even played rise of iron enough to get my light to raid levels yet, and its because you made my main subclass uncompetitive in PvP and useless in raids.

The sunsinger subclass is very over powered with the right set up. If you have a melee fight with a sunsinger running scorch melee. You WILL lose. What about the infinite grenades upon self res? Along with an over shield and a melee that's basically one hit kill? I main as titan and while Iron Banner is on I've decided the best class is a warlock running sun singer, with the clever dragon and matador. The amount of times I've gone to melee a warlock and they shotgun me, which if i don't die they just immediately melee me before I even got the chance to bring my gun back out! #warlocksareop

I agree with this.
-
Preach it brother. I knew I could motivate the Sunsinger community to speak :)

The fixes Sunsinger needs: Viking Funeral's debuff effect increased to 10% per stack. Each stack resets the duration. Solar Wind pushes enemies further (at least half the strength of a Taken Phalanx shield blast), works whether while on the ground, or in the air, and is more consistent. Brimstone's explosion ignites the surrounding enemies it damages. Larger, or stronger, explosion. Song of Flame gives a slight damage boost to you and your allies' abilities while speeding up your allies' ability cooldowns. Would give players, and their teammates, more incentive to use it. Radiant Skin increases your allies' armor while giving you increased damage resistance during Radiance.

nuetral

Hunters have lowest armor. Warlocks can survive flux nades.
-
Simpler idea- make all abilities have a decent chance to ignite without an ignite ability. Replace Ignite perk with with something that enhances super like Radiant Will does. Maybe a perk that grants extra bonuses to Armor, Recovery and Agility while In super. Then you have options to spec the Sunsinger for strong grenades or strong super.
-
Sunsinger worst super? Tell that to the people who have solo'd Atheon and Oryx.
-
Eh, sunsinger was always doomed to fail in the end. The entire subclass' strength was founded upon one specific strong loadout since the game's beginning that has since been nerfed. I never liked sunsinger tbh, but I understand it's need for a buff. I seriously doubt it'll get one though, considering this is Destiny's last year before D2 releases. Also, warlocks never had weak armour, only agility.
-
Make it good for dps support and that's it
-
I feel like the dot should last longer. Sunsingers are awesome in the raid. Love it.
-
What I don't understand is, they nerf the burn, bring in an Artifact that reduces burn, then leave the useless effect we have now.... ????
-
Hunters have the lowest armour, but you need to realise warlocks had insanely good everything in year one and two, they had the best melees even when Titans should have had them they had the furthest reaching melees and still do, and got shielded just from getting a hit not a kill like the Titans one
-
Warlocks can get more armor than titans when using the ram, and still have amazing armor without it
-
I used sunsinger yesterday in a 3v3, got 14 kills, No deaths + Mercy rule, All people were randoms..
IF I ONLY GOT 1 MORE KILL..
But ya, it does need a buff.
-
All I play is Sunsinger. I love the change to viking funeral. I wouldn't object to a melee buff and my fusion nades to be a little more accurate though.
-
No leave VF as is
-
BUNGIE LOGIC Nerf Sunsingers then make a burn relic for all to have.
-
It's funny how the main things that made sunsingers good was flame shield, firebolts and VF. And they decided to nerf all three.
-
The 1st one I do not agree with. The second one is acceptable if sunbreakers have the extra burn perk for a melee, instead of an armor asunder like warlocks have now.
-
Bungie never plays sunsinger. Before the nerf, raged forum dwellers whine about viking funeral, yes VIKING FUNERAL alone, yet, they changed EVERYTHING. Firebolt Melee VF Fusion And so on. Ive seen a video way back before the nerf that sunsingers are complicated to adjust, if thats true, why the fck did they changed almost everything?
-
Some weapons are better suited for pvp than others. Seems to reason that certain subclasses would be the same way, for example the titan bubble
-
Undo the Flame Shield and Firebolt nerfs, but keep Viking Funeral as it is.
-
Running low armor is a choice. I can have a titan with a lower armor rating than a Warlock or hunter depending on the perks I choose.
-
Lol Lowest armour Needs to be OP No
