Bungie needs to rework the Thorn- "Rose" ornament.
Today's weekly update from Bungie showed us some previews of the new ornaments coming to Bad Juju, Red Death and Thorn. I'm not a huge fan of ornaments in Destiny, but hearing that Thorn was getting a "Rose" ornament piqued my interest. But, upon seeing Thorn's ornaments, I am a bit disappointed. To my understanding, and please correct me if I am wrong, within Destiny's lore, Dredgen Yor (Thorn's infamous owner), saw the hand cannon as a beautiful rose, and not the grim guardian-killer that it is.
I feel that Bungie dropped the ball here and should rework the Rose ornament completely, making it into that beautiful flower that Dredgen Yor truly saw it as.
Bungie stated in the update that the ornaments were not finalized, and could very well be changed.
So lets have our voices heard, and make this happen!
[b]Edit: The grimoire states that after Yor's corruption when "he looked down at his Rose and realized for the first time that it held no petals: only the jagged purpose of angry thorns."
Regardless of if Thorn's appearance actually changed, or if Yor just never realized/saw it as something else, I still stand by my opinion that it would be awesome to have a Rose ornament that did have petals and would play into the whole idea of Light vs. Darkness.

Maybe rather than a more Rose-like static skin, they could instead do two skins layered together. Im thinking of how the symbols change on the Warlock bond from the Sepiks Perfected strike. Like it has a normal, hand crafted kind of appearance that, if you sit and watch it long enough, it shifts temporarily into it's more natural Thorn-like version. Maybe while it's inflicting damage over time? Just an idea.

I don't understand , they finally have an ability to change the skins of the weapons and armor and give them really amazing and awesome designs and they always go for the least original ones. Smh by this point It just feels like that they just love taking the easy route on anything.

I'm quite a fan of the Rose of Corruption ornament, the other one can go though. I really like how the rose if corruption one highlights how weapons of sorrow and hive magic are really corrupting, I feel like that's what the RoC thornament represents, especially with the hive sigil in the hand and the jaggedness of the thorns coming out the weapon. The other one is ugly and can go though lol we can agree on that.

Exactly! It should shoot out pink rose petals after a kill that are the same color as the panties that I'm wearing, and scroll the word "ROSE" across the screen. [spoiler]Omg, I thought it was called "Thorn" and was a bad-ass gun that killed people. If it gets some fairy skin based on a stupid name mentioned in the grim I'm deleting this pos. It has 2 different ornaments that both look cool. Be content and happy for a change.[/spoiler]

3 RepliesI'm a lore fanatic, but I think it'd be nice to have an ornament representing what Dredgen Yor believed Thorn looked like and then the second ornament to show an "uglier" and "dangerous" version of Thorn.

I like the idea of it. I just think it needs to be rusted to shit. With chunks missing and maybe a part of the chamber missing.

If that can't be done, while they are paying attention to those two guns, they should give bad juju and thorn void damage. Exotics with lore reasons tying them to the void. Boom.

Every rose has its thorn. It was never a beautiful weapon. He saw it as beautiful because it was unique. It was not until he was corrupted he saw it for its purpose and what it was.

If Rose was going to be in the game, I'd want it as a separate, new weapon rather than just a simple ornament for Thorn. For that reason, I'm kinda glad that we didn't get a dedicated Rose ornament.
