Masks are now in a Kiosk. They are not useless as they can be worn in Crucible and pretty much any yr one activities. Yeah it drops your light below the current limit but your still higher than any yr1 content.

  • Year one activities...LOL...that still means practically 'useless', no? Crucible...I guess, but not really. Crucible, like iron banner, gives legendaries based on your light level. so you should have your highest light gear on.

  • That's your choice though. I use it in Crucible all the time. Cant always be about drops man. Then its more like work and less like a fun game.

  • It is work. It IS all about the drops...because there's not much else to do. Bungie doesnt make enough of a 'game' to play, especially as for solo players. We spend a lot of time doing a lot of grinding and dealing with bungee gamer hostile decisions just to get a new helmet, gun, cape, etc. No drops, no game. Ah well.

  • What are you talking about? Maybe vanilla destiny had a drought of content, but there's plenty of things to do now that are simply "fun" to do (in my opinion, at least). Crucible, Strikes, Court of Oryx, Archon's Forge, Prison of Elders, Daily Missions, etc.

  • You must be new to gaming. I couldn't tell you how many times I punched through Halo 3's campaign or how much I ground through Diablo 2. There was a time where games had significantly less content than Destiny, even in it's vanilla state (arguably there still are), and you could play a game just for the sake of, well, fun. Try throwing on the masks and SRL gear and see how far you can get through Crota's End. Try and glitch your way into the Vault of Glass. Take on Skolas again with your maxed out year 3 gear. Solo Challenge of Elders. Invite friends to a hudless elimination match. Spend a week completing every single bounty. Challenge your friends to see who can kill phogoth the fastest. Get a group together to tackle all 4 raids in one day. Take on the Court until your runes run dry. Etc. Etc. If you really feel like there's a lack of things to do, I would hate to see you deal with games that don't receive any sort of content updates whatsoever.

  • Progress is everything. All that stuff you wrote is just a waste if time. Think isnt dark souls.

  • Exactly the kind of response I'd expect from someone who hasn't spent time with games that don't offer up progress past a certain point. Have you never replayed a campaign or your favorite level in a game that didn't give you some reward for doing so?

First, stop talking shenanigans... Nobody cares what games used to do back in the days.....come into the future dude. Last time I checked previous generations offered full games that were grand, difficult, full of secrets all of that good stuff. Nowadays it's hard as hell for company thats not rockstar to come out with one complete game at all. The thing about Destiny is that is a sum of its parts, and 80% of its parts are boring and nondescript. Look at how many missions dot the landscape in the world. Destiny Mission design is as basic as it gets so there's no interest in returning to 99 pervent of them whatsoever. The taken war was awesome, even though they were full-on lazy and use the same exact boss type for every single mission. There's a few gems that I like to play every now and then- like hidden signal and tenebrous tunnels, but overall the mission design is so poor and uninspired once you do them that's a wrap. Look at what is likely the only real expansion for year 3.... They made 5 (good overall) missions that you can finish in a matter of 2 hours or so. All of the other environments that look awesome by the way, are stuck in the raid. What if your a single player and just like to get your loot and explore these worlds? Then Destiny can be a hostile place to use sometimes. Add on top of that grinding mercilessly is the only way to progress to the upper tiers of light? That is just pathetic. Imagine if they updated the older levels so that we can actually go back and play those and get drops from them. That would at least give some incentive to go back and revisit some of that. But Bungie are a bunch of idiots, who are so busy trying to make sure there's only one real gun in the game (fast slow variant archetypes all equalized to the same output)making sure that Exotics are far from exotic as they come, and that players keep hitting walls so they don't get to 400 fast enough even though there's nothing to do after that anyway. For taken King, Bungie stated that they were going to look at parts of the world that can be randomized a bit. Yet the same areas spawn the same characters 3 years later. And they spawn at the same rates at the same world levels. Cmon. Look at the Moon. The absolute hands-down best representation of a moon in any game in history, and it's a dead zone. Look at the patrols. 3 years of this game and the patrol types are shockingly small. The new patrols in the plaguelands are awesome but that's only in the Plaguelands. And by now we've done hundreds of them already. I love archon Forge, and they can't even get matchmaking on that right. So no, I don't want to create artificial challenges for myself because the game is empty. We want Bungie to give us an incentive and revitalise other areas of the game where it makes sense to. Taking into account that the game at this point is old and we've done so much of the same rinse and repeat. So if you want to strip to light level 250 and go try to raid, by all means. I think it's ludicrous, and your notion to put the responsibility of fun on the gamers themselves is off base totally.

  • Previous generations offered up just about as much as nowadays. I cod beat most of my 'ol Genesis games in a couple of hours, Dreamcast games in an afternoon, the first 5 Halo games in a one day marathon. Hell, before the April update I still ran Prison of Elders, simply because I enjoyed it, and I still enjoy Challenge of Elders and the Court of Oryx. If you really can't find something to do in Destiny, be it enjoying old missions or trying new loadouts in PvP, I pity you. The tools to make your own fun are already in the game, you've just let the Skinner Box portion of it go to your head.
