Last night, I raided with a bunch of 360s...

So last night, I (lvl 383) did WoTM with a group of 360s, ranging from 362 to 368, and the run was god awful. They all said that they were "experience " and "know what to do" but we wiped on each section at least 4 times. the damage was piss poor and everyone was dying very quickly. Aksis phases was just balls. captains one-shotting people. no one knew what the balls that the servitors dropped was for, despite you know they supposedly beat the raid before. Phase 2 was just a nightmare. Extremely low damage, siva swarms killing everyone in 3 seconds. i think after 8 tries we finally got it down. it took us 6 hours to do a raid that everyone supposedly knew. ON THE OTHER HAND, the raid i did this morning, with a bunch of 380s, three people completely new to the raid, beat the raid in 1 hours and a half. Alot of people think that asking for 380s+ people means other people is looking for a "carry." I can carry people regardless of their damage, but i won't carry a bunch of lying 360s scrubs who doesn't have the decency to be honest with me and waste SIX HOURS of my time.

  • The legend himself 3 manned the raid with everyone at 360 light... light level is not so much the issue, it's how competent and how well the team plays together.

    • I'll take noobs, as long as they're quiet and listen when I'm explaining the mechanics, and also not afraid to ask questions when they don't understand. Problem is, most people can't seem to grasp that. I've taken 2 relatively noob teams all the way to Aksis with one or no wipes.

      • In that same note I will say that my buddy and I both 380+ wanted to help our friend who is 367 complete the raid. He kept making it to the end, but his busy work schedule was golding him back. We search ed for randoms, but a lot of people won't do a raid with someone who is below 375, and that is fine, play how you want. So, we asked for people who were 365 or higher, with a note thay said noobs welcome, we are happy to teach. So we got three guys who were in the high 360s. And the raid went... Great. Took a couple hours to clear because we were teaching all the mechanics, and showing these guys where clusters were, doing monitors, etc. But everything went just smooth, they listened and appreciated a group that was willing to help strangers. Look, play how you want to play. I will never knock someone for that. Its your fireteam, and I can see why you feel more confident running with 380's. I just wanted to share this, to let people know that a solid team that communicates can beat the raid with no issues. And even 6 385s can -blam!- the whole thing up if they don't. I know I was fortunate to find three solid players that listen, and communicate, but hey sometimes taking a chance can pay off.

      • Honestly that's to be expected man. Id rather have my friends watch guides on the raid and have a bit of knowledge on what to do. But as it stands, me and my friends are simply not high enough light for the raid :(

          • I feel you. You don't even need a full team of them, just having one 355 is bad enough. He couldn't platform. When I say that I mean he just could not do it. We were on the jumping puzzles for 30 min each. He kept dying. It was bad.

            • A good friend of mine wanted three of my clanmates to help help him. I told him that we were all tired of getting our ass kicked in the raid(we are kinda scrubby but our light was much higher than his thats why he wanted us). He said "thats weird i did it 3 times already but got crappy loot" i checked his grimore he had 0 completions. So i just messaged back "good job dude maybe we will beat it eventually"

I was a 370, and never started the raid. I found a group today on aksis stage 2. I watched my special snowflake guide video. Said I was experienced and we knocked out the final boss. that was my first wotm raid encounter. Btw dark drinker is amazing for this boss.

                • Dude just raid with an elitist groups when in LFG. PERIOD. People complain that elitist groups are dicks. This is true. They Sometimes fall apart. Also true. They however have a higher chance to get the raid done. Low lights might be nice people but I raid for completion. Theoretically you COULD beat it but you also are rolling the dice and potentially wasting hours and hours. It's called stacking the deck. 380+ & emblems. No squeakers. Don't raid during 9-5 (adults are working, children are running amok).

                  • I remember having to train a bunch of noobs on the TTK Raid Heroic and finish the challenge. The first 2 wipes was just getting them to do the right thing. The 3rd time its like they went from noobs to elites. Did it flawlessly no deaths.

                    • I ask for 370+ but I say that they must know what they're doing. They don't even need to have the raid completed, they just have to know how to do it. I haven't had any serious issues with teams. Always kill Aksis 1st or 2nd try.

                    • Just remember at one point in time you didn't know how to complete the raid either. Maybe you didn't lie about it. Good for you. But don't complain that a bunch of lower light levels didn't know what they were doing. Help them, like you did. Be proud of that. Cause coming on here and complaining about it has pretty much nullified the kind act of helping them with the raid.

                      • Yeah that blows. I raided for the first time Monday. Made my own lfg on here and said it was my first. Didn't need a Carrie. Anyone welcome. Ended up with a full team of first timers all in the 360 area. Took a few wipes at everything but the beginning but we got through to aksis phase two before we called it quits. Not enough dmg for our lack of experience. To many wipes. Would I do it again. Absolutely. Everyone just needs to be honest about there exp.

                        • Light isn't that important. Player knowledge of raid mechanics, loadout, and skill trump light level. I beat VoG Hard as a level 29 back in the day, without Ghorn. I think we had three 30s on that random team. That was a big deal back then, if anybody in this thread even remembers vanilla Destiny. Yes, high light helps...but I'll take squared away 360s over random unknown 380s.

                          • People getting killed by captains fail at one or more of the following... 1. Not killing all shanks before going for captain. 2. Using gally instead of dark drinker or raze lighter 3. Not using invis grenade or trying to be a hero instead of staying in cover when approaching captain.

                          • I think this is ridiculous, I went into my first WotM raid ever last night with a irl friend and a group of 4 guys off lfg, I was 364 and the rest of the group ranged from 367-375 we got all the way to the final stage of aksis and couldn't finish because one gent had to get up in the morning for work, at the end of the day if you want to complain about "WASTING YOUR TIME" then you really shouldn't play any type of a video game considering there's no benefit other then wasting time NoKappa

                          • I think groups of 360s should do the raid on all 3 characters all the way to aksis phase 2. You'll get a bunch of loot from all the chests and different stages of the raid. This helped me level up quite a bit and I only have 2 toons. When the rest of my clan got into the 370 we were able to beat it fairly easy. The captains at the end are rough to deal with if you're mid 360's. At least they were for me.

                          • Your post is exactly the reason why I chose to wait until my main character is 380+. I spent the time leveling up and occasionally watching videos about WoTM so that I can be adequately prepared. I expect to run and complete the raid this weekend.

                            • I finished the raid for the first time last night after 4 3/4 hours. I was 365 and had two other team mates in their 360s and then the rest 370+. Yes it took us a long time on Aksis, more so, than the rest of the raid, but that wasn't due to light. We had to learn the mechanics and then use that knowledge. Light isn't everything.

                              • True and sometimes it is about light honestly. Not only do they do less damage and take more but also they likely haven't played nearly as much as you if you're higher light. So it can often go hand in hand with experience. I find every 370 plus team does it with no more than one wipe on any given section. Usually only one or two wipes total the whole raid. However if I try and help a 360 plus team they're way too talkative at the wrong times and just make jokes about how they suck and fail over and over at simple shot. Then they blame their light levels themselves.

Rely bruououoh? I did teh raid with light level negative 17s!! It's about teh xperiunce, not lite!! I took us 4:20 minutes to beat the raid!!
But really, nowadays the 360s are the bad players, the people who say that they beat it with 360s before are all in the 375+ range now, no longer 360.
